Slightly Odd Request: "The Dig" Cover Art
I'm not sure if this is the right board to post to, but anyway:
I've recently been bitten by the adventure gaming bug (I'd played a few over the years but suddenly I'm buying loads of them), and I'd seen that a local games store was selling "The Dig" for £4.99 - the game may have mixed reviews, but I thought it was worth it for that price. So, I went back to the store today to get it, but couldn't find it on the shelves. I asked a shop attendant and they did indeed have one copy (the disc was behind the counter). Only problem was, they couldn't find the case... After looking for ages they gave up and gave me the game in a blank DVD case for only £3! This brings me (finally) to the point of my post - could anyone who owns the DVD-packaged version of The Dig and a scanner please scan the cover insert and email it to me so that I can print it out? It's a shame to have it in a blank case and I don't really have the time to make my own insert. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could send a nice high-res image to [email protected]... I hope someone can help. Thanks, Iain |

Welcome to the forum.
I used to have a Mac copy of this game but I traded it away. I'd do it for you if I still had it. Hopefully someone else will be able to. |

I don't own it, but i'm a man with connections, so I sent you the cover. Should be in your mail shortly. If you want the German version instead, just let me know, because I can hook you up with that too.

Thanks all of you! The one that Wormsie posted is exactly what I wanted!
Thanks to temporaryscars for the one he sent to me, as it turned out it wouldn't have fit a DVD cover, but thank you anyway! And thanks to fov for offering (and for welcoming me to the forum ). Off to fire up the ol' printer now... |

I just printed it out and put it in the case - looks pretty good, considering my printer isn't exactly top of the range.
Thanks again guys. |

I have a copy of Dig I recently got for $2. It wouldn't have worked for you, it's in a CD case. Man, that game was good! What else have you been buying up? Welcome, btw.

Well, I already had Grim Fandango, Blade Runner, Discworld and Discworld Noir from years ago, but for my birthday last month my flatmate bought me Full Throttle and The Day of the Tentacle/Sam & Max double pack. I played FT and S&M, ended up running into Adventure Gamers, and soon found myself with a long list of games to buy (most of which I hadn't even heard of until I read this site!).
So far I've bought: Broken Sword I and II (played both in a few days, they were great ). Broken Sword III (on its way in the post) In Memoriam (brand new for only £5 on eBay!) And of course, today I bought: The Dig (sans cover!) Escape from Monkey Island (only £5) I downloaded Beneath a Steel Sky and Flight of the Amazon Queen from the SCummVM website (probably one of the most useful bits of software I've ever downloaded!) Of course, I now have to get the first three Monkey Island games, and am currently trying to get them for a reasonable price off eBay. I'm also watching or bidding on: Discworld II Syberia I and II The Longest Journey Moment of Silence I've also been thinking about The Runaway, but I've heard such mixed opinions from people on this forum, so I'll hold off for a while until I've actually played some of the games I already have... Unfortunately though I have university exams starting next week, so I have had to ban myself from playing any games until they are over. May 4th can't come quickly enough... So, as you can see, I'm addicted, alright... |

Runaway is a great game. Don't pay attention to the people on this forum. Most of them don't know what they're talking about.

Welcome to the forum!
Expanding on what fov said, the trick is to find someone who likes the games you like, and ask for their recommendations. Also, enumerating exactly what you liked and didn't like about the games you've played will help the regulars here suggest "must-plays" for your gaming pleasure. Thrifty

Well, I'll get back to you when I've played a few more!
One thing I will say though is that I seem to prefer games with fairly logical, intuitive puzzles (probably the main reason I liked the Broken Sword games so much). That said, I can still really enjoy a game with good plot/graphics/music, and once I've played a few more games my mind will probably be more receptive to crazy, far-out puzzle solutions... |

See if you can get your hands on a copy of Sanitarium or the Last Express - both are some of my favorites and like no other adventure games EVER! woot.

As a lover of old FMV adventure games, i'd say go with Gabriel Knight 2 and Zork nemesis.

IMJ, you really should get the three Gabriel Knight games. Check out the reviews on this site to get the saliva going.
P.S. Big crazy green LOL to Emily for the Runaway gag. |

Another game you could try is The Black Mirror. It's not the best game you'll play but it's still enjoyable. Also if you like detective games you could try sherlock holmes:silver earring. But I think you already have enough games to keep you going for the time being.
