Default *Rolls on the floor and laughs* (Tim Schafer on the 'death' of adventure games)

At JA+ the land of Mordor, there is an article about "The State of Adventure Gaming The Middle Earth". Read it here, and find out how Randy Sauron completely... well, I can't even describe it... ROTLFLOF, anyway.

But as soon as you have graphics, then they have to get better and better until it’s just not economically possible to do it anymore."

But, if you would like to respond to Tim’s comments, his email address at Doublefine – as provided in the CGM article – is [email protected]. Maybe the developers of the upcoming Dreamfall, Myst V, Still Life, Lost Paradise, Keepsake, Martin Mystere, Around the World in 80 Days, Nancy Drew & The Secret of the Old Clock, Runaway 2, Tony Tough in a Rake’s Progress, Agon, Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, Vampyre Story, Delaware St. John and others would like to write Tim and commiserate over the death of the genre.

For it to draw less attention.

But this is SACRILEGIOUS! It is BASHING!

Go ahead and move it. Feel free to change the title to something more suitable and less cryptic.

Ok, so when the thread is moved, this entirely useless chit chat post will count for something? Yipeee!

Kinda looks like he's being hugged by four bare-chested ladies, actually.

For a bit of further hilarity, check out the little "lets get the flame rolling" troll post Randy started anonymously over at LucasForums (yoyoman is Randy).

I enjoy the fact that Randy is basically a 100% rabble-rousing gossip-columney yellow journalist. It actually does spice things up a bit. The fact that he attempts these comedic smear campaigns under the banner of professionalism mars its awesomeness slightly, but on the whole, it's pretty entertaining.

LOL!! Wormsie, behave. I'm keeping an eye on this thread to make sure it doesn't resort to another site vs. site debauchery.

All right, all right... I agree the article is way over the top, and intentionally misses Schafer's point, but let's get down to discussing the ideas, not hammering the author or site. JA has its own forums if you want to do that.

LOL!! You are baaaaaaad little doggie.

*ahem*

Anyway, I do agree with Tim in many ways. The adventure genre HAD ITS CHANCE to take advantage of progression and improvements to gameplay and everything else, and it blew it.

I'm not convinced that Tim Schafer and your are talking about the same thing.

(No, no, I'm not going to start anything. It just wanted to be said.)

Why do I get the impression that Trep is about to bash someone's head in with a golf club each time I see his posts?
