maybe it's just that I'm not a member there, but getting from one screenshot to the next took me through the whole "your content is loading" page each time.

Yeah, I thought about that title after I posted. Thanks for fixing it.

No! No controversy! I declare this a controversy free thread! So there!

Oh, yeah, right, like that's going to happen. *chuckle*

Hey! Bad Jake!

OMFG. Just look at those skies.

Eleri, thanks for the heads up. I posted it as news.

In fact, Rand talks about sucking the player far more into the gameworld by direct involvement and interaction. The classic point-&-click interface will be included, but also implemented will be a 'free-roam mode'. One guess is that it may be similar to the alternate, player controlled camera views in Gabriel Knight 3.
Now, imagine flying through this game's environments in real time 3D and TELL ME it has no place in adventure gamedom.

"The point-and-click node-based control style has been so refined that I would venture to say most will find it pleasing, quick to learn and less inhibitive than previous outings."

So it's not going to be 3D? Or maybe... node-based 3D?

I'm not sure. He did mention a 'free-roam' mode, and that typically means being able to 'fly' through the gameword, typically a real time 3D feature.

Fly from node to node, you mean?
I find this quite confusing. The screenshots smell like 3D, though, so maybe the previewer just used "node-based" because he was comparing Myst 5 with the previous Myst.

That's what I was thinking, too. He got his references mixed up. Myst V looks a lot like Uru. I'd say it's real time 3D with point-&-click interface for those of us more accustomed to it, and 'free-roam mode' for some really beautiful sightseeing.

Actually, it looks pretty awesome, and the only innovative myst game since myst 1. I'll probably pick it up.
