Direct control games?
Hey im new to the forum (love the site) and im having trouble finding direct control adventure games. The ones ive played are Amnesia, Penumbra series, Darkness Within 2. I can never really get sucked into a point and click game, so im lookin for the full control games
PS. Is there any way to search for games based on themes, and/or control style? They all seem to be bunched together thanks in advance! |

I, too, would appreciate if you could search games from the site with different filters, such as "direct control" or "point and click"

Where do you draw the line for direct control? For example (since I haven't played any of the games you mentioned), are Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island direct control? What about Gray Matter on the XBox 360?
Well, that's pretty much all the more direct control games I've played |

It already is one of our existing filters. Our filter system just doesn't work.
We're actually working on it now, along with some other significant upgrades, so they'll all be unleashed together. Hopefully sooner rather than later! |

This forum section is for site feedback. As Jackal said, we are hoping to make filtering by control method available at some point. If you are looking for suggestions in the interim, you really need to start a thread in the Adventure forum section.

I think I originally spotted this thread in the other section... I suspect it was moved as the other question was more for this section... probably be best to split the two questions into separate threads in their own sections

Since the second part is fully answered, I'll just move the thread itself.
And to get you started, I'll suggest the last three Sherlock Holmes games: The Awakened, Nemesis, and vs. Jack the Ripper. Is it just first-person games you're interested in? |

I was afraid people would take it like that... See, I was asking where he drew the line so that we could better help him find such games as he likes Asking whether the Lucasarts ca. end of 90's type control scheme would qualify as direct control. That would open a world of rather good adventure games, while a more FPS-style control scheme is very limited. |

Not sure what you mean about direct control.
Are you referring to First Person Exploration Games with real time physics. Or just First person adventures games like MYST, Barrow Hill, Dark Fall series etc. Sorry just a little confused, I mean they are both adventure driven games but there is still quite a difference. |

I think it's where you control the body of the character totally, using keyboard to go forward and mouse to look around rather than just clicking where he should go. There's all sorts of combinations, for example myst 4 has direct control looking but not moving, myst 5 has both.
