Hideo Kojima to develop a new Adventure Game

Now I'm not the biggest Metal Gear fan, but I love Snatcher, so this news has me pretty excited. I still haven't found the time to play Policenauts, but that game looks amazing, too. What say you?

Ah yes, I did see this story this morning but didn't think to pass it on here myself . 'Tis good news indeed. Come to think of it, I never did finish Snatcher... I think I'm right at the end too

Sughly, the end is rather hilarious You should definitely try and finish it.
There was something about Snatcher that really sucked me in, despite the relatively primitive interface. I loved how you could research anything on the super computer at HQ, and the sheer amount of alternate dialogue you can find is really impressive (and entertaining). Plus, the music rocks and the voice acting really brought the characters to life. Also, I have a soft spot for 16-bit pixel art and cyberpunk That reminds me, my copy of Neuromancer was supposed to come in the mail last week

I don't think so. Snatcher wasn't like that, although expect it to be relatively light on puzzles, as most Japanese adventure games are.

That's because "visual novels" are extremely popular in Japan and have influenced the style of their sister genre, the adventure game. So you might find a Japanese person thinking:
"Instead of dialogue and character building, they're usually extremely heavy on difficult puzzles that make no sense most of the time *YAWN*" Personally, I like both styles. Sometimes I don't fee like sweating over a tough puzzle. Other times I want to be challenged and don't mind trying one puzzle for hours.

I'd take a dialogue infested Kojima adventure over a lot of the AG's of the moment anyway, but I think this will be a more Western style adventure game from what I've read in the interview.

I hope Kojima doesn't go down the romantic road again...like Tokimeki something. That was his right?

Another report on Kojima's adventure game intentions.
I'll be very happy to play a non-MGS Kojima game. I played the translation of Policenauts recently, and I just love the worlds he creates. If it is about a topic so controversial he may quit the industry, I'm even more curious. |

It was either rumourmongering or it's going to be announced next year. Either way this one is disappointed that there's no new adventure game coming from Hideo. Then there's this. FFS. |
