Machinarium Pre-Order Deal
http://diygamer.com/2009/10/machinarium-pre-purchase-deal-on-steam/
Steam's offering 25% off ($5) to those who order Machinarium before it's release, Direct2Drive has the deal too. |

In how many forums did you create accounts to post just the same thing?
And in Amanita's forum...jesus... |

If you pre-order it from the developers themselves instead of Steam, it'll cost you only a few dollars more, and...
You'll have the satisfaction of knowing that Amanita Design is getting all of your money. You'll have access to the Mac version as well. Steam is Windows only. You'll get the entire original soundtrack, which is not included on Steam. |

Are you saying is that if you get it from Steam you're not supporting the developer? Was Amanita Design forced to release it on Steam or something?

Amanita made a trade-off. Everybody does, including video game buyers.
PS: Just for the wonderful sound track I would buy it from Amanita. Last edited by Fien; 10-07-2009 at 04:42 AM. |

I think the price difference (and Machinarium is available for $17 plus tax on Amanita store) is more than worth it. And I am a cheapskate.

You are supporting them, but a % of the sales are going to Valve.

I just played the demo on Steam and I really liked it. I think I'll order it on Steam. I know I would never listen to the soundtrack so a bonus like that doesn't tempt me to order it from somewhere else. Do people actually listen to these soundtracks? If so, when? Like while you're doing chores around the house?

Oh yes! I listen to all kinds of music when I'm earning money at my computer (I use headphones. ), including some soundtracks from games like Comer, Neverhood, The Last Express, etcetera.

It's here and it was definitely worth waiting for. I've been playing for an hour and am enjoying myself immensely. From the demo I got the impression that it was a one screen = one puzzle, on to the next screen concept. I was wrong. The game opens up after the first few screens.
I know it's a fairly short game, so I'm going to savor it. Don't have much time for games at the moment anyway... |

Just finished it. One of the best adventure games ever. The art style is suberb. The story is challenging, funny, sentimental. The little robot is magnificent in wondering what to do, getting bored, getting emotional, even dancing in different rhythms. No need for walkthrough if you get stuck, it has its own. And it's not short either.
Remarkable. Even with the absence of dialogues. Last but not least, the soundtrack is terrific. Last edited by dekaneas297; 10-16-2009 at 01:57 PM. |

I wasn't impressed by the demo. I couldn't tell that there was any plot whatsoever, and the lack of dialogue isn't going to earn any points from me either. This seems more like a puzzle game (a la Myst) than a true adventure.
Cool art style, but there's nothing here for me.

I know what you mean, potan. I'm not terribly good at this kind op puzzle either. But it's a puzzle game and I find them fun when I am patient and determined to solve the nasty but cute little buggers. I'm currently fiddling with magnets, very hard.
PS: No, it's not the last one, but the you can find solutions to the really hard ones in the walkthrough. |
