When I run Simple, it does NOT take me to an introduction when I press the Space Bar, but takes me straight to the Playpen screen and command prompt. When I type "HELP" at the command prompt, I get the message: "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."
I am running Win98 (first edition). Any advice? [EDIT: I already made sure the "prevent program from detecting Windows" box is unchecked in the DOS program properties dialog box. Actually, I tried it both ways, with the same results.]

Hmmm..., I've never seen that problem before. Can you run ANY Simple programs? Do this - On the command line type: GO SIMPLE Then type RUN TARGETS and see if that even works. Also, try running SiMPLE on a different computer and see if it works. |

Yes, I got a screen full of targets. But I cannot access any of the READ documents. I also discovered that pressing the space bar quickly flashes me the "cannot run in DOS mode" message before taking me to the Playpen screen. Attempting to READ any of the documents gives me the same result.

Also, it cannot find program module TURNMEON. And some of the routines end when I hit the space bar, while others require me to use the Esc key.

You spelled "TURNEMON" wrong! And, yes, some programs terminate by pressing the ESC key while others terminate by pressing ANY key. (Moral: always use the Esc key to terminate) |

Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Double-click the icon for your "C" hard drive. Find the "SiMPLE" folder and double-click to open it. Inside the "SiMPLE" folder find the "DOC" folder; double-click to open it. Inside the "DOC" folder find the "SYSTEM" folder; double-click to open it. All of the documentation files are located there. Double-click any of the HTML files (.htm) to read that document. |
