The Book of Unwritten Tales
Hi everyone. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself quickly first.
Long time Adventure Gamer here that played quite a few Adventures (Space Quest 1 was the first adventure that I played). Now I have been following this site for quite a while (great site by the way), but never joined the Forums. Just stumbled over a nice looking Adventure and I couldn't find anything about it here, so I thought I'll share my findings (sorry if someone already posted about it). Adventure is called The Book of Unwritten Tales and here is the link to the homepage: http://www.book-of-unwritten-tales.de/ It's a German site as it's a German game (Adventures are quite popular in Germany at the moment and some very nice Adventures came from Germany in the last few years). Everyone should be able to navigate through the Screenshots and Artworks though. I can speak German and if people are interested, I can translate a bit what the game is about. Just let me know. Currently at work, so I can do it in a few hours or so. |

Thanks for bringing this game up. The graphics look amazing. If the animation will be up to par then Pixar is out of business.

Wow this game sure looks impressive. I'm very interested in seeing how this one turns out. I hope the gameplay and story can back the graphics and music.

The game itself won't be the most serious one and you'll see many hints to Fantasy Books, Games and Movies (and they might make a bit fun out of them). But the developers see this as a homage and not as a satire.
Over the course of the Game you will be playing a Gnome, an Elf and a Pirate (sometimes alone sometimes simultaneously). It's using the Ogre Engine (same one that was used for Jack Keane), but I think they tweaked it a bit. Planed release for Germany is the first quarter of 2009. From Gamestar (German gamemag) previewed, it looks like that this game has some great potential as the game seems to have a nice humor and interesting riddles (didn't want to post any spoilers, as I know that many adventure gamers hate spoilers). Let's hope they can keep it at a high level. Now that covers the basics of the game. If people really want me to give away the spoilers, I can do so (with a spoiler warning off course). |

It all depends how successful it is I would say.
Ankh, Everlight, Secret Files: Tunguska, Jack Keane and some others are all German and now available in English too. Should it be released then you can expect that it will be released a few month (or a few month more) after the German release though. EDIT: And is the game isn't that good, well then no one will miss the English translation anyway. Last edited by DonkeyMan; 08-07-2008 at 12:23 PM. |

This surely looks very promising Adventure Game and a delightful treat for Adventure Fans. I will await for its English release and hope that everything goes well in the process of English translation and nothing goes wrong as been previously did like "Hollywood Monsters" and "Boyz Don't Cry" and many others.
Keep my fingers crossed. |

A few new impressions from The Book of Unwritten Tales:
The game will now be released on march 23, 2009 in Germany. There are a lot of previews recently, and from what I read so far: This AG will be fantastic! Can't wait to play it. |

This game really is quite beautiful. It's one of the rare "3d rendered background" titles that holds its own against hand-drawn 2D scenes of the same style. The backgrounds are just full of life.
I can't wait to play this! Hopefully it will make it over to the US! (and hopefully it will get good reviews!) |

I too have been looking forward to this one. Even though the first screenshot here kind of reminds me of something. Anyway I checked out the homepage and it looks totally awesome. I am so going to nab this one as soon as it comes out.

Oh … it looks so enchanting. I would love to see this in English. To bad I can't understand German. They do seem to have a knack for adventure.

Wilbur and the Death: http://www.adventurecorner.de/video.php?id=231 The smoking "Cow": http://www.adventurecorner.de/video.php?id=232 Very funny dialoges, if you understand German. The animations are really smooth und the backgrounds moving constantly. Looks nice. The game will now be released on april 01. |

Looks very interesting
Hope it will be in English as well, because that just tends to read easier. On the other hand, if German is the original language, a lot can be lost in translation, and maybe I'll just use this game to boost my understanding of German

That's just the kind of game I was looking for! Can't wait to play it! I should have started learning German 7 years ago.
