Had to upgrade my computer for my photography. The subject line is what I now have.
Now I am wondering what games that are Windows/Mac will work, if anyone knows. I have the game "Longest Journey 2". I wonder if this game is new enough to work on an Intell Mac?

No windows on the Mac, though they will run, still use the PC for that. Trying to see what may work with the Intell Mac. I have a few games that I am not sure will work on the new machine. Just wondering.

That's what I understand. Haven't had the chance to look at that yet. Thanks!

Assuming you bought a new machine or one with Leopard, it's already in /Applications/Utilities/ -- you just need a Windows CD (with SP2) and a blank CD for drivers (it'll burn it for you)

What games run on this platform? I got this to speed up my photo post processing, however, I still love adventure games. Just wondering how to find adventure games without running windows.
I have searched mac forums and software downloads but am not sure of what I am going to get. Myst, Alida and this type of adventure is what I am generally looking for. Ankh was one that I saw for universal binary. Know nothing about it. Just throwing this appeal out to you folks. I have the shakes already!

Very few, at this point. Without Classic, the older Mac adventures won't play, and there aren't many new ones coming out for the Pentium Macs yet. It will be a while before I upgrade because I still have a ton of oldies to play.

Yeah, there aren't too many games made for the Mac (other than the ones you already mentioned). Just because it's an Intel Mac doesn't mean it will play Windows games; you need to use Boot Camp or emulation software like Parallels.
Dreamfall (Longest Journey 2) is a little confusing - you'd think it would have a Mac version, since it was published by Aspyr, a company known for making Mac ports of PC games - but it doesn't. ScummVM will let you run a lot of the old LucasArts games and also some Revolution games (i.e. Broken Sword) on the Mac. |

There is also DOSBox for the DOS games. On an Intel Mac you can even use dynamic core for more demanding games.

I had heard of parallels and looked at scumvm. I will check into those. Thanks for the quick responses as always.
