Default Will There Be A Sequel To Still Life

I am just hoping & praying that there will be a sequel to Still Life as the game ended with the crime unsolved. And why we have to wait so long to find out what happens. Does anyone know if there will be one SOON?

Default No sequel I'm afraid

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (and nothing is ever set in stone) but I am 99% sure there will not be a sequel to this game. Why? I feel that the whole point to this game is that the ending is left unclear for the player to make up their own mind a la Jack the Ripper.

The reason why there could be a 1% chance is that this game does (kind of) follow on from Post Mortem and therefore a third installment may not be completely off the band-width. But is very unlikely.

Yeah, as plenty of those threads that Kuru linked to above will tell you, it's extremely unlikely due to Microids Canada (developers of Still Life) being bought by Ubisoft, Ubisoft not owning the rights to the Still Life IP, and Microids France not actively developing games themselves.

I'd say the chances are edging toward 100% at this point...

Well Microids do exist still, just not as they once were. They don't have a team to develop games, but MC2 are publishing Dracula 3 and Nostradamus.

The search function is helpful in cases like this.

Do they own the rights to the actual characters e.g. do they own the rights to Post Mortem as well. Whilst it may not be legal to make a sequal Still Life under that title, if the third game had a different title with the same characters and story would it be possible for another company to make it?

There's the possibility that the writer of both games has the rights to the actual stories?

I mean, I think if they ever made a third game I don't think it would have been called Still Life 2 anyway. I'd bet any money the title would have kept in synch with a one that represented the overall theme.

Just a thought.

Looks like there's still life in these still life threads. I think the possibility of a sequel is still dead.

How's about we boycott Ubisoft? Or hold em hostage? I'm sure I could find some Americans that can sell me a few guns.

It isn't up to Ubisoft, so boycotting them would be just plain stupid. Ubisoft do not own any of Microids Canada's work. All characters, stories, etc all are owned by MC2.

Coming from the guy (?) who gave us the Mike Tyson quote collection, I was hoping for more on this one.

I think he was probably joking, making a reference to this thread. My personal favourite in the list of SL2 threads. Had me laughing till I hurt.

With those games coming out there is hope that the Still Life I.P. will get sold.
*fingers crossed*

I just don't get that they showed a link that said the game continues blablabla at stilllife-thegame.com or something, which I naturally tried to follow, only it was a dead link even back then. Now they say it's under construction.
Uh huh.

Oh and yeah, the cookie puzzle wasn't easy, but I liked it and figured it out without a walkthrough - and strangely enough it was one of the ONLY puzzles where I DIDN'T cheat, so maybe it's just a question of how your brain perceives "logic"
