Default Sam & Max DVD?

Sorry if this is commonly answered/readily available info, but I was wondering if Sam & Max: Season 1 is going to be released in any sort of boxed version...after hearing how great the episodes have been so far, I'd really like to buy a boxed version when the season is over.

There are going to be two boxed releases, one from Telltale itself sometime after the last episode comes out and one in the fall published by The Adventure Company. The Telltale release will be available only online whereas the fall release will be available at retail. They're supposed to be different in content but there have been no details yet.

As Udvarnoky said, no details have been released about what the boxed releases will include (apart from the 6 episodes, of course).

There will be extra material on the season 1 disc release. What that extra material is is still unannounced, of course.

I'm curious - for those who have been playing the episodes individually, do you think you will buy the boxed set when it comes out? Will it depend on what the extra material is?

Yes, I'll buy the Telltale CD, no matter what the extra material is. For the cost of shipping. Season 1 was worth every cent I paid in advance. I realize "early adopters" pay a bit more, that's fine. I was afraid the retail price would be $19.95 but I read it will be $29.95, which seems fair. And I liked being on a Sam&Max diet, the monthly installments taste even better that way.

There's only one thing which would make me feel cheated: if the TAC version included extra gaming stuff -- an extra episode, an epilogue, something like that, which was not available for downloading and not included on the Telltale CD. (I don't mean extras like the-making-of, interviews, etcetera.) But I trust Telltale won't do that.

I just finished the last episode of Sam & Max Season One. Thanks for the bellylaughs, Telltale!

No more Sam & Max to look forward to.

What am I to do with the rest of my drab, grey life...

I don't suppose anybody wants to rub my unicorn?
No, I guess not...

I'll have to find a copy of The Handbook of Multicolored Happiness one day, so I can read it to the blind.

That's the retail release. If you bought the season from Telltale, you're entitled to a free copy of our disc version (you'll have to pay shipping, though). We'll be announcing more details about the Telltale release later this week.

You're forgetting about Sam and Max Season 2.
Season 1 was a big success so i'm sure they'll make another one.

can you call it a "season" if there is only 1? It seems to inherently imply multiple iterations just by calling it a season in the first place.

Sure you can. "Season" is based on the TV model of a show starting in the fall and wrapping in the spring. There are plenty of TV shows that only make it through one season.

It's moot because there will be a Season 2 of Sam & Max, but even if there weren't, "season" is still an appropriate thing to call it.

Also, details about the disc Telltale's making for Season 1 customers will be up on the website soon. Maybe even tomorrow!

Wow, that is absolutely fantastic!

I'm really proud of how Telltale has handled this franchise. Sounds like "The Adventure game Company" needs to give up their name and pass it on to the rightful heir.

Yippie!
Goodie, goodie, goodies!
Nice box, trailers, bloopers, cut-scenes, commentary, concept art... sounds awsome.

And a suprise bonus content to look forward to...
I hope it's a coupon for a free tattoo at Sybil's.
Or a cardboard cut-out model of Bosco's? Or instructions on how to fold the head of the President? Or maybe a couple of endorphins...?

I can hear all the people who didn't buy the game kicking themselves.

Oh wait, that was just the sound of me kicking myself. Ehehehehahahaa.

I disagree with that. Telltale and TAC are both committed to bringing out quality products, but we do it in different ways and cater to slightly audiences. Telltale's is for people who have already bought Season 1 from us, whereas TAC's will go out to retail and reach thousands of people Telltale could never reach. Our disc is aimed at a certain type of person... the die-hard fan who's already bought the season from us. The Adventure Company's business is retail and they know how to put together a package that'll sell well in that market. Everyone wins.
