Default Murray and other hilarious AG characters

So you guys probably rehash this sort of question every few months, but I just gotta find out if I'm missing out on some great characters who keep your sides splitting from adventure games I haven't played. The one that does it for me from my limited repetoire of games is murray, who is of course, the demonic skull from the MI games. This character is just genius. It's hard to explain why exactly, but who knew that talking skulls could be so agile as to show up in a myriad of places with such dry wit. I want to name my children all murray, just so that after they die (hopefully they will before I do), then I can watch them decompose and play with their skulls and pretend that they are all murray, and demonic talking skulls and what have you. Hardy har har. So that was a little out of line, but seriously guys, what are your favorite funny characters, be they supporting characters in the game or leading roles?

I know that some people found him annoying, but I kinda like Crow from TLJ. Not sure why, it was just nice to have a little comic relief in a game that takes itself so seriously.

Oh! and of course you can't forget umm......hehe, I forgot.....what's his name, the AI from The Jouneyman Project Trilogy. Arthur! That's right. He cracked me up. I think it was Arthur anyways....Correct me if I'm wrong.

One final one, I know he ain't in an adventure game, but HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic. (Who happened to be higher than Murray in Gamespy's Top Ten Sidekicks) That sociopathic droid made me laugh. "You want me to waste this meatbag, Master?" Hehe, I'm just weird that way.

Mmmm, probably Murray in CMI I would agree. Possibly Guybrush too, he's become so dear to me.

I'm probably the other of those who didn't find Murray entertaining. In fact, he was annoying. I wish he had stayed at the bottom of the sea where I managed to push him in the beginning of the game. Then again, this all coming from someone who loved ewoks and didn't mind Jar-Jar.

Give me Glottis anyday!

The Dungeon Master from Zork: Grand Inquisitor. A truly ingenuous performance by Michael McKean. Even if the game was rubbish (and it's, on the contrary, one of my favourites), it would be worth playing to hear all his hilarious comments.

No?
All right.
Well, you've got to hear it to appreciate it.

Yeah, Arthur's right. He was hilarious.

I agree Murray is probably one of the funniest characters in adventure gaming. Another favorite of mine, although I suppose he's not technically a character, is Gary Owens as the narrator for Space Quest 4 and 6. Listening to his narrations cracked me up. He could take even the simplest, most mundane line and make it sound hilarious.

And of course, there's Sam and Max (which I'm surprised nobody's mentioned yet). First time I played that game I figured it would be typical cartoon humor like Monkey Island or Space Quest. I was pleasantly surprised by Sam and Max's unique brand of humor. It's kind of...sociopathic.

Every so often, when we're discussing Attention Deficit Disorder, or sociopaths, or bratty kids, or sophomoric humor, or any of several other similar topics, my girlfriend (she's a mother of four and a nurse, so these topics all actually come up from time to time) will reach out her arm and waggle her fingers, then draw it back, then stick it out again, and draw it back...

She is miming Max playing with the electric eye automatic door.

It has actually become a common, unspoken-yet-perfectly-understood part of our personal communication.

Glottis, from Grim Fandango , definitely comes to mind. Also loved the Narrator in LSL7, his delivery was spot-on; the singing pirate crew in Curse of Monkey Island ; the Rotten Tomato in (I think it was) KQ7; and Dirk Benedict's over-confident card-player in Zork: Grand Inquisitor ...there are others that are even funnier, but in other genres....

This isn't an adventure game per se, but what about Minsc from Baldur's Gate? That guy has me on the floor laughing. "Butt kicking for goodness!"

Maybe just because he's still fresh in my mind, as I haven't even really got into playing it, but I'm partial to the little robot pal in Beneath a Steel Sky.

I think his name is Joey.

I agree with mrdunn, I like Crow and HK-47.

I also like that Agent from Grim Fandango towards the end of the game who continued to be an operative even though he was only an arm and head.
