Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Thu - Dec 14 2006
An old favorite of mine - which I never did beat. Sorry for the day-early post, but I'm going AFK for the next couple of days, and I've been wanting to post this one for a while. |

Ack. Quit confusing me on what day it is. Your post says it is 12/14, the game says it is 11/19, and my calendar says it is 12/13.
BTW, I don't recognize the game. What it is that it is? ...bysmitty

That's right!
The game was quite difficult for me when I was 10 - but my dad had read the book and loved it, so the game came home with us. It rapidly grew on us. I never finished it, I'm not sure if my dad did or not. I still have the complete game, box and everything, laying around here someplace. I remember it had one of those humongous turning cardboard wheels for copy protection. Maybe the biggest wheel of any game I ever played. Regarding the screenshot: I always loved that joke that one day far in the future Pong would be worshipped as The One True Game. Hence the "house of Pong" locale in the screenshot. |

William Gibson indeed... interesting about his books is the concept of people 'jacking' into 'the matrix' by plugging cables into the back of their heads behind the ear. Sound familiar? Those sneaky Washawski brothers...
Never seen this game though... wasn't there also a text parser version? or am i thinking of something else?

Infact Wachowskis inspired more from Ghost in the Shell rather than Gibson novels. There is even a scene in Matrix which is an exact duplicate of a scene from GITS.

The green falling letters you mean... One could also mention many similarities to 'The Invisibles' by Grant Morrison ... of which copies were kept on the set of The Matrix supposedly.

No I don't mean green falling letters and I don't think you have any idea what I'm talking about.

Then enlighten me... and that rain of letters was definitely in there. Some of the chase scenes were also stylistically similar, but I'd am fairly forgiving of those.
Oh wait... you mean that lobby fight?? I guess that could be... been about 10 years since I saw Ghost in the Shell... and have not seen the second one yet. And if you don't mean that scene, then do illuminate!

No, that's not what he's talking about either. Haven't seen Ghost in the Shell, but I'm very familar with what he's referencing to. During the chase scene there is a part we're the agents shoot watermelons that is an exact recreation of a scene from GitS.

The Matrix is my favorite movie, so I would know these kinds of things.

thanks boheno... i should watch the matrix again since i don't remember the scene in question. and while solid snake is about as helpful as an asthmatic gerbil sucking an olive through a straw, he is right, watch ghost in the shell. the sequel is also supposedly pretty good.
and both of you read the first editions of the invisibles... you'll see neo, morpheus and a ton of borrowed plot points.
