Default Adventure Game Scene - Wed 10th May 2006

It's Dynamix's Heart of China. Yes, that's right, there's a Sierra-published non-GK adventure game that I really quite like . Plenty of plot branches here - even if many of them are "Game Over" situations - and the ridiculously clichéd story is remarkably fun once it gets going. Shame about the ridiculously illogical opening section, mind you.

Wow, great shot. Simply lovely. I own it and remember trying to play it but I don't think I got past that opening. Guess I should revisit someday.

Oh you should. After the opening it all becomes a lot more sensible, and there are some really quite neat features in this that you don't often find in adventure games, with multiple routes to certain objectives and varying endings depending on how you play the game.

I remember this one together with Rise of the Dragon (or something like that). I also remember they were both too hard for me at the time. I think I was something like eleven

I've only played it once, and I wasn't terribly impressed, but I'll have to try it again sometime.

I wish so much that the trend of this and Rise of the Dragon were continued further. I LOVE these games, the whole format of them was just wonderful.

And I like not-so-logical puzzles.

Heart of china could have been good, but in the end it's just too unforgiving and not that interesting.

I liked Rise of the Dragon a lot more.

I too much prefer Rise of the Dragon, though all Jeff Tunnel's games deserve more attention. This was a really good choice of screenshot for Heart of China.

If I recall, this game is quite short? Er, well... I briefed through it with a walkthrough I think.

I have a copy of the game, but it's only on 5 1/4 disks I think.

I like Rise of the Dragon more as well, though. Probably to do with theme/setting.
