"I should have completed these"
I wanted to call this topic "I should have completed these a long time ago", but there just wasn't space enough. I know some forums have a little sub-title option too, this would have been useful here.
But anyway, on to the topic. There are a lot of adventure games I have wanted to complete, but I just haven't taken the time to get into them. Unfortunately, that is, because some of these games are excellent. There are plenty of reasons why I haven't completed them too. The old Sierra adventure-games had the ability of looking uninteresting to me when it was released. Today I wish I had taken the time of looking more closely to Space Quest and King's Quest, but I was too deeply involved with the typical LucasArts adventure game and the point and click system that most of the games that required typing in the commands yourself was ignored. I did however complete most of the Leisure Suit Larry and all the Police Quest games. Both of these games are among my favourite adventure games series. But to start it off... "I should have completed THESE a looong time ago": King's Quest series Space Quest series Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade The Dig Normality Police Quest IV - Open Season (just for the sake of completing it) Blue Force (after Jim Walls left, Police Quest was never the same. This is my idea of Police Quest IV) Codename: Iceman The Adventures of Maddog Williams Operation Stealth (James Bond - The Stealth Affair) Quest for Glory series (Hero's Quest as I first knew it) Gabriel Knight series Simon the Sorcerer 2 and 3D (except the last one just for the sake of it) Maniac Mansion Discworld Noir Broken Sword 1 and 2 (although I just did, it should have been done a long time ago) I may add some later, but I just can't remember anyone else right now. The Sierra-games tend to be a bit difficult as it requires writing and good english skills. Although I see myself as a guy who masters english very well, these games sometimes require words and phrases that a non-english guy or girl is aware of. That's why I didn't complete them in their golden days. Anyone else have such a list? Please... adventures only. |

Anyways... I never finished Maniac Mansion (being playing it this week): too hard for me, since you can get stuck, and I HATE that . But I wish I had. Also, I wish I had the courage to play Innocent Until Caught more than 5 minutes, because I liked (moderately) its sequel Guilty. And I have The 7th Guest somewhere on my shelves... Oh, and I gave up on Escape From Delirium. Otherwise, I always finish my adventure games (unlike other games), with a walkthrough if I really need it (which I hate, but I also hate being stuck a year on a stupid puzzle, which will give me no gratification howsoever when I solve it anyway).

Holy smoke, that's one HUGE list. These are your games list right? Are all the quest-games from Sierra in a compilation pack, or are they the original releases?
Anyway, you have an incredible amount of must-have-played games. And here I am being ashamed of not having completed Gabriel Knights and The Dig and particularly Simon 2. Ah, well... |

Most of Sierra games missing are finished, like Larry and Space Quest.... I'll be lucky if I even finish them all....

Myst, the wole game was just a complete turn-off. Which is kind of sad since I began playing it with my dad when I was little, and enjoyed it. But now that I picked it up again... Never been so bored in my life. There's nothing interesting to do or look at. All you do is pull levers and turn on switches, hoping something useful happens.
And DOTT, I liked that, but it crashed at the same spot in the beginning all the time. |

Maniac mansion. I began it twice, but since there are only one save game, if you save at a wrong place you have to begin from the beginning. And I don't have a power for it after each boom.

I hate leaving games unfinished, plus, I always play through them quickly, and multiple times. So I don't really have any unfinished adventures. Though I do have some other games I never finished that I wish I had.
Hitman (got to the last level once, never finished it) Hitman 2 (could never bring myself to play through the entire thing) American McGee's Alice (That Jabberwok was DAMN hard) Star Trek New Worlds (Worst. Game. Ever. ok maybe not, but definitly slowest) The Sims (I know, there's no ending, but I get bored with that game after about 5 minutes. What is the appeal there?!?) Command & Conquer Renegade (Keep losing my saved games or getting stuck) Oh! there is one adventure... Crystal Key (I just didn't get it, there's next to no story, and its boringer (is that a word?) than Myst) |

I usually finish the adventure games I play and the ones I didn't were so long ago that I don't remember them. The one exception I can think of is that I bought Dark Seed for my Amiga when it came out, started to play it, and then had to sell the computer because of sudden financial difficulties. I just purchased the game for $5 and received it a couple days ago for PC, so I can finally play it. There was an abandonware version out there, but I always try to buy the original if I can. Abandonware doesn't usually have the movies or voices included. I don't like the "Warez" editions. I like my games un-edited.

Hmm, I've had Syberia for a yeaer now and still haven't completed it, I have just forgotten it perhaps...
At the moment I'm working on Runaway and Broken Sword 3, those two I will not forget to play through, at least I hope so. |

Sherlock Holmes: Case of the Rose Tattoo. One of my favorite games and I have never finished it! I tried twice... in both attempts I ran into a bug that kept me from being able to load my saved games properly. In the second session I got pretty far. When my saved games stopped working I couldn't bring myself to restarting again because it is a very long game. And now the music does not run on my Windows XP so I doubt I'll ever play it again. Oh well.
Other games: Byzantine: The Betrayal (again, because of a bug), Leisure Suit Larry 6 (yep... a bug), and all the King's Quest games (my own fault here). I have finished most of my adventure games. In other genres, however, I rarely play all the way to the end. |

Tanukitsune, that makes 146, am I right? Whew, and I was feeling bad for having unfinished (or not started, for that matter) thirtysomething games (I would have to count them exactly), most notably Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Return to Zork, Kyrandia 3 as well as (of non-adventures) Thief and Fallout.
I'm making a New Year's contribution, though, not to buy (even as a budget release/magazine cover CD; downloading for free also counts) any game before I completely finish at least one game I already own. Will I be patient enough? Oh, and if you have multiple copies of Quote:
