Default Which games have you beaten WITHOUT using a walkthrough or hint guide at all?

I, for one, succumb to the hint guide probably around 3 times average per game. Especially those games with slow stories or annoying puzzles.

Here's the list of games I've beaten without a single hint:
King's Quest 6
Death Gate
Myst
Grim Fandango (so far, I'm on year 2)
---

Still Life, I almost made it through, but got pissed off at the baking gingerbread recipie puzzle. Not because it was difficult, but because it was so damn stupid IMO! Sadly, since I've discovered walkthroughs on the net, its been harder and harder to resist. The joy of finding a solution yourself is the best feeling, unfortunately there's only so much patience I have, especially for games that already border on dull.

I think Day of the Tentacle is the only game I've won without hints.

sometimes its hard to go without a clue ! but i think if a game doesn't need a hint to complete ,it doesn't mean that its easy ! by the way i think that the only game i played without any hint was Syberia.

I beat most of the classic Sierra and early Lucas Arts games at some point without a walkthrough, but that's only because they either didn't exist (in the pre-internet days) or they cost money. I find that I resort to hints more often now, although I try to limit myself. There's something truly satisfying about solving one of those puzzles that has stumped you for days. Even if it was just a matter of pixel hunting or trying something you thought you had already tried. I feel so cheap when I cheat. But then, I'm much less patient than I used to be, so I'd sooner cheat than rack my brain these days.

A bunch of games. Ones I remember right now:
Syberia 1 and 2, Black Mirror and NiBiRu, Schizm (just kidding), Myst 1, 2, 4 and 5, Death Gate, Callahan's Crosstime Saloon (unless perhaps one riddle night band that I had never heard about, but I might have gotten it out of the Internet myself), Mission Critical, Shannara (I think), Moment of Silence.
Oh, and The Neverhood and Grim Fandango. And Sanitarium.

I am obsesive compulsive about not ruining my gaming experiance by using walkthroughs but I broke down in Discworld 1, KQ6, and Escape From Monkey Island. Discworld 1 and MI4 were amongst the hardest games I have ever encountered. KQ6 I consulted a walkthrough 4 or 5 times when I assumed I had hit a dead end.

I use a guide 1-2 a game and usually I realize it's just some pixel I've missed somewhere. Only games I've solved without using a hint is Exile (Myst 3) and The Dig.

I used to beat all my games without hints or walkthroughs ie all sierra games and lucasarts games (up to monkey island 3) on the Amiga, then I got a pc and the internet.

I'm just glad I was a late entrant into the world of the internet.

Over time I guess I just got impatient and weak willed.

It`s not many, actually.

Black Mirror and Syberia 2 is the only I can think of.
Many games I`ve just used one or two hints, but when I do, I usually hate myself, because the solution was so obvious.

Duckman! Yes, that one was pretty easy. I would like to say I finished Stupid Invaders without cheating, but I bucked at the awful maze.

Every LucasArts game that I've completed (all except Maniac Mansion and Zak) aside from Escape From Monkey Island, where reading the hints told me to do something that I thought I'd already done but hadn't .

Beneath a Steel Sky, Broken Sword and The Sleeping Dragon (damn feather in BS2).

The first two Simon the Sorcerer games.

King's Quest V, Space Quest I, Space Quest IV.

Probably a whole load that I'm forgetting now. Definitely so. That I don't use walkthroughs as a matter of habit is the result of playing these games before I had (and certainly before I had cheap) internet access.

Yes, for me it's usually pixel-hunting problems or a line of dialogue I overlooked. Or if I think a puzzle is truly impossible and I'm on the brink of insanity. And yes, I owe almost all the games I beat without walkthroughs to the fact I hadn't discovered walkthroughs online at the time. Nowadays the "brink of insanity" is much looser in definition for me.
