Looks like good old Tancrede de Nerac aka As-Sayf aka The Scimitar. The Prophet and the Assassin.
Actually, I think I recognize his white horse. |

Ah, one of the game that stands on my very long to-buy list.
Can you tell me how big the education aspect is in this game? All the opinions I read about the game sounded good, but still, I think Cryo is responsible for the fear I have of edutainment titles. |

I didn't mind the "edu" part at all. It's true that every once in a while you have to answer a multiple-choice question, but you can skip it and look up the answer in the "Library" first, or in the "Gallery of Portraits" with the biographies (which I didn't bother to read ). And for some questions an educated guess is all it takes.
The more interesting info, the juicy bits, you get by clicking to your heart's content. There are no hot spots. Clicking on people will make them talk (voiceacting is fine) and will advance the game. Clicking on objects will often reveal info on their uses at the time of Louis XIV, on ceremonies, customs, etcetera: servants usually slept on a straw pallet at the foot of their master's bed; doctors were highly regarded but surgeons were merely elevated barbers; during the funeral of Madame de Monpensier the urn with her entrails exploded (hehe... don't know if that's fact or fiction). For instance, when you click on a chamber pot, you read: "Bathrooms did not exist at Versailles, so King and courtier alike had to make do with the chaise percee or the chamber pot. Chamber pots were always available with the snap of the fingers to a valet, provided you didn't mind using one in the middle of the crowded Hall of Mirrors. A special pot was even made for church and was named a Bourdaloue, after the preacher whose long sermons made its use necessary". It's a charming little game, lots of humor. With a story and a mystery to solve. PS: And it runs beautifully on my XP. Just like that, no tweaking. Last edited by Fien; 01-17-2008 at 06:10 AM. |

Ah, thanks for those infos.
It's certainly worth a look then. Here's a new screenshot: I'm anxious to know how long it will take until someone figures it out. |

Let me think, is the title Medusa?
Or Medusa's wrath? Something like that. xD
