Default Adventure Games on Steam - Full List

This is what is hopefully a complete list of every adventure game on Steam! Steam is the world's most popular digital distribution format for games but their search engine leaves much to be desired. Many games are classified as adventure that do not adhere to the traditional style.

If you find anything missing from this list or something that shouldn't be on here, please tell me! Some games blur the lines on whether they adventure or not so I may mistakenly leave them off.

I'll try my best to keep it updated when I have time and will also post new releases (or others can if they spot them first). Although there is a discount thread already on the board, it would be cool to list any games on sale on Steam here also.

So here it is. Metacritic average ratings in brackets where applicable.

Thanks. Their store page seems to be broken and it isn't coming up in the search engine (the demo is though) but I used Google cache to check and it still seems to be on Steam. Adding now...

Thanks a bunch, too bad that Steam rarely lets any Adventure games go on sales

During their huge sales it can happen, I got The Longest Journey, Broken Sword III, Tales of Monkey Island, Monkey Island I & II SE, and Indigo Prophecy in sales.

I do wish they'd put the Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes games on sale though as full collections.

Is this considered a traditional adventure? I played the demo and despite some object manipulation felt more like a survival horror game to me (didn't like it but if it is considered adventure I will add it). Ditto Penumbra games, should they be on the list?

I would say yes because although they are not traditional, they are games that will appeal to much of the same crowd. Plenty of people here will dismiss anything with a second of action to it but I think plenty others would want to know. I am not sure what percentages of people are on which side of that divide though.

Those games are similar to Heavy Rain in that many people here enjoyed and wanted to discuss it but others refused to play it because it had timing.

Oh, I don't think timing in HR is such a huge issue - most people who never tried Heavy Rain, didn't play it solely because it's not on the PC.

Yeah, I have badly wanted to play Heavy Rain (much like Alan Wake and the upcoming L.A. Noire) but this console-exclusive nonsense is killing me as I don't own a console and like my PC gaming. :|

I notice that this thread is quite old and hasn't been updated in a while, but since I find this list very useful I thought I'd list a few games that have been added to Steam since the list was last updated:

Blackwell Deception
Blackwell Legacy
Blackwell Unbound
Dead Mountaineer's Hotel
Gemini Rue
Post Mortem
Runaway: A Twist of Fate
Scratches: Directors Cut
Still Life
Still Life II
Syberia
Syberia II
The Next Big Thing
The Tiny Bang Story
