I just finished Broken Sword Circle of Blood/Shadow of the Templars and liked it (Especially the story, the puzzles were sometimes a little annoying pixel-huntish and of course that bloody goat, but I'll leave that to another discussion).

What I wonder about is the US title 'Circle of Blood'. I mean, the reason why the game is entitled 'Shadow of the Templars' in other releases becomes clear soon enough, but the US title...I just find it hard to pinpoint that one down.

My current interpretation is

that it refers to the group/circle of Templars who are ready (and eagerly do) spill blood over getting what they want (the Sword of Baphomet and world domination, so to speak),

but I have the feeling that there should be more to it.

Any thoughts on this?

It was a marketing decision by the US branch of Virgin who published the game originally.

Well yeah thats obvious but there has to be some kind of relevance to the game. They cant just change it to some cool sounding name with any kind of connection with the story, that would be like calling the game "Broken Sword: Curse of the Damned" totally irrelevant.

The 'Circle of Blood' is probably an oblique reference to the group of Neo-Templars, if you want to tie it to the game, but the fact is that Virgin just thought it sounded cooler I imagine, and therefore would suit better. Broken Sword is, clearly, the better title.
