ScummVM and DOSBox
Since lucasarts would probably never comment, and some of you came from there, what is your opinion on the state of emulation? Programs like DOSBox and ScummVM and the vast communities of people that still play the old Monkey Islands daily?

I think there a great way to get old games running. But I think in the future, there will be more standard ways to run old software (through OS virtualization and so forth). But they are amazing engineering efforts!
I am particularly blow away with the Grime engine effort. I NEVER thought anyone would figure that thing out! |

I'm thankful for both programs, because I know that these games are playable well into the x64 and Vista years, and with luck beyond that. Imagine showing a person 20 years from now Leisure Suit Larry 1? They would look at you very funny.... |

I tested ScummVM with my Adventure-Collection from LA but was very, very disappointed as I realized that the voices in the german emulated DOTT were not the originals
