Default Running Amber:Journeys Beyond on Win XP

After getting multiple suggestions, I finally obtained a copy of Amber:Journey;s beyond. I'm dying to play the game but my PC running windows XP doesn't seem to like this game. Is there any way to get the game to run on Win XP? I've gone through Inferno's website but the game's not listed there.

As far as I'm aware (and going by all previous threads about this), Amber will not run in XP whatsoever. Sorry.

That's what I thought.

Too bad I threw out my old PC with Win 98. I wish I had kept it.

I found a way to do it. You have to have Virtual PC on your computer and play through that. Yes, it's a bit of a pain, but I'm loving Amber now that I actually get to play it!

Did you try dosbox? I recently used that program on my XP system and it managed to run the really old game Lost In Time without any difficulty. True it is a bit of work to figure out if you are dos challenged like me but once I did it worked. Have not tried anything else yet. Just google dos box its a free download.

apparently this won't work. there is some code embedded that only allows it to play on 98. I personally tried it on every computer system we have in the house (4 kinds) before I installed virtual pc.

Akane, Inferno has a special page for Amber. She has tried many things. If the virtual PC will work, it's the first thing that does for Amber. Another in the same boat is Feeble Files.

Actually, a workaround for Feeble Files has been found. It takes some doing, but if you read this entire thread, the details of how to go about it are here:
