LucasFilm Games returns
http://www.mixnmojo.com/php/news/showfile.php?id=1568&category=lucasartsnews
LucasArts has a new president. He's also the marketing and distributing person for LucasFilm as well. I guess we can expect even more LucasArt games built around the purpose of marketing LucasFilm products. Who knows, he could be an adventure games fan though. Let's hope so. The company can potentially be salvaged though. Maybe not Sam & Max 2, but if the guy likes LucasArts old original stuff he might change the company's direction. Probably not.

The press release isn't very encouraging. They sort of say "LucasArts wants to expand its lineup of original games" or something like that, but this is not even implied to be an ideal of the new president, and then in the very next paragraph all the guy talks about is how there are exciting new ways to blend existing licenses (read: Star Wars) with the emerging interactive entertainment industry or some shit.

We might get an Indiana Jones RPG.

Prove it all night

"Ward joined Lucasfilm in 1997 and has led the development and execution of the marketing programs for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and the upcoming Star Wars: Episode III. In addition, he led the successful campaigns for the DVD releases of the first two Star Wars prequels, the Indiana Jones DVD collection and Willow. Ward is also responsible for theatrical and television distribution, and the online distribution of Lucasfilm's content as well as its growing e-commerce activities."
This doesn't look promising at all. I'd expect the consolidation of existing LucasFilm Licensed games, plus the continued emergence of "safe" original IP games, such as Wrath Unleased, Gladius, and the curious Mercenaries, which appears to have some of the mainstream press in a flutter.

I first thought the title of this thread meant that LucasArts changed it name back to LucasFilm games

I notice Lucasarts have now officially announced their E3 line up. As expected KOTOR2 has been added, and also as expected no actual adventure games have been added.

KOTOR 2: TSL is pretty much the only thing that will be at E3 that hasn't been officially announced in the past. This game looks like it'll be pretty awesome, but the same can't be said for the rest of the line-up. Hopefully E3 2005 will have a better line-up, now that the company has a new president.

my undying hatred for lucasarts.. or lucasfilm games continues. It rages like the burning flames in the deepest pits of hell.
Until lucasarts shapes up and becomes a true company like it once was (ah, the glory days) I shall continue to boycott them. Viva warez releases for any lucasarts game i say! |

Meh, I honestly don't expect any kind of turnaround with the company, even with a new guy on the seat. The only thing I hope they bring me is another fun Indy Jones action/adventure - with better camera work .

Now that's not very nice. We have to support and intimidate the new President! We need some candles, some drugs, some castor sugar and an envelope stamped and addressed to LucasArts... |

Has anyone noticed that Lucasarts haven't splatered "E3" over their site like they have ever other year. It makes you wander if they actually have anything to be proud of this year . Imagine what their booth must look like.
