Was there a game similar to Tradewinds?

I have looked everywhere online and can't find any help about it, so I am asking here and hope it's ok.

A long time ago, I used to play a game on my pc that I could have sworn was Tradewinds, but after buying it and playing it, I realized it isn't the same one.

The game I'm referring to was very similar to it, but you could travel all across the world trading. You also had a choice of characters (from traders to pirates) and I cannot remember the name of that game.

Can anyone help me?
