Default Pirates!

Gamespy got the leg up on Gamespot and appears to have the first screens and info on the net. Here

I can't wait. To bad it's PC only, and I don't have good enough PC to run it. But, maybe by the time it comes out I'll have a better one.

Ooh, looks nice. But isn't pirates a little worn out by now? Doesn't matter, looks good anyway.

Why would Pirates! be worn out?

The original Pirates! is one of the best games ever made. It's a combination of role playing, strategy, action and adventure. You sail around in the carribean for plunder or war to try to increase your fame and fortune. It is pure fun and I really hope that the new game will be as fun as it's predecessor.

Is this a remake of the original? Or a totally new angle on the franchise... I love my good old Pirates (gold).

I think it's both, a remake and some new angles.

Pirates! sure looks like to be a wonderful game.

Sid Meier is making it so there's no doubt that it'll be good

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD *runs around like a wild rabbit... like Max!*

I've been waiting 15 years for this game! I can't wait to get my grubby piratey hands on it.

And I have a decent PC, so I'll probably be able to run the game in full without slowdowns (unless my Athlon XP1800+ is a bottleneck).

Although, I swear I read about this game being shown on both GameCube, Playstation 2 and Xbox on upcoming E3. At least the lists says so.

I don't remember playing the original pirates... but I do remember CivII and I remember that it was slightly on the tedious side... probably because I never got into it, and it was one of those games one has to get into to enjoy...

Well, I can comfort you by saying Pirates! is nothing like the Civ games. In fact, they have very little in common, except being made by the same guy (Sid Meier).

Pirates! is more in the vein of Pirate Hunter (fairly new game from Ascon) and Pirates of the Caribbean (the PC/Xbox game), only a lot better. Pirate Hunter is more of a Pirates! lite, and POTC is what it would be like if it was an RPG.

I loved the original Pirates! game! I had for the Amstrad CPC, and I played it so much I had memorized nearly all the pirate data in the hand book...

I can't wait to play the new one!
