It's a similar card the one I have on my laptop, except mine has more onboard RAM (128Mb). As it stands, that card should serve you very well for the next 3-5 years, especially in adventure games, as the genre is lagging behind others in the technological race. You're not at the cutting edge, but that is a hard and expensive place to be, and even more expensive at which to stay.

You should have no problem playing it, assuming the rest of your system is at least the minimum specified, or preferably above it. The graphics card itself would not stop you playing it, in an appropriate system.

While we are on the subject, I have an AMD Athlon with 1.3 gightz - 128 megs of RAM and 40 gig HD - but my graphics card is (of course) tied to my motherboard - barely scraping by at 16 megs (and not true 16 - as it's borrowing from system memory) - BUT, the good news is I have an open ATP/AGP (whatever it's called) slot for a graphics card: anyone have any economical suggestions as to what I should put there?

dante, your graphics card aside, your specs are identical to my own laptop. you'll be able to run nigh everything at full spec, and some of the brand new releases just under, for the next 3 years-ish.

As we've discussed before, the Radeon 9600 Pro is the choice for its price range, but that might be too costly for you. Meh, it's a bunch of work to find a card, so I'm not going to, but I suggest, if you have some time and can wade through the technical mire, anandtech for reviews and comparisons.
