Jazz Jackrabbit 2
http://www.jazzjackrabbit.com/
Anyone play that game? I used to love kicking my brother's ass in splitscreen multiplayer. ... and the level editor that comes with it is really excellent. There's actually a large community of people that still play the game. One cool thing about the level editing is that there's been a lot of experimentation with the singleplayer... taking it way further than the original game into much more interesting, almost adventury directions. If you've got a copy of the game, check out these level packs: Tomb Rabbit - by Kejero http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads...hp?levelid=272 Another Story - by Stripe http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads...php?levelid=12 and: (shameless plug) The Lost World episode - by myself and Jaws http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads...hp?levelid=950 I'm contemplating creating a new singleplayer mod for the game, but I don't know if or when I'll get around to it. Still... be fun to try and push storytelling in a platform game as far as it can go. Must. Find. Time. So any thoughts, or am I the only one around here who likes green bunnies? |

I used to play that game all the time. My friends and I altered the multiplayer levels to make them more 'interesting' too. You know secret warp spots placed in the middle of nowhere, super hidden weapon caches. It was a great time.

Ah yes... the memories.
The lead programmer (Arjan Brussee) was a minor celebrity among Dutch gamers for a while. Because he's ... well, he's Dutch. The fact that I can remember his name is a little scary. I wonder what he's up to these days. |

ACK!

I got my copy at the budget bin for 2€, the best deal ever!
Spaz is my favourite rabbit too... Is it a coincidence that Bucky O'Hare and Jazz Jackrabbit are both green space rabbits that fight similar enemies (toads/turtle)?

Ah yes... I remember that game, used to be one of my favorite platformers when I was a teen. I'm pretty sure that I'd still like it if I played it today.

Apparently Orange Games sort of turned into Lost Boys and that's changed into what is now Guerilla games. I'm told that's where they're still at.
The cool thing about JJ2 is that the multiplayer is great fun and although the level design on the singleplayer isn't earth-shatteringly exciting, the gameplay is smoooooooooth. So if you then take the level editor, throw in lots of enthusiastic and creative gamers and wait for a bit, you get some really kick ass singleplayer! The above three are really each a whole new game. Cause although the original singleplayer is really well designed, it's fairly standard platform stuff in that you run and jump your way through lots of levels killing lots of baddies. These three and some other level packs created by the fans take the game down a much more story-based route, which in my opinion is a lot more interesting... Jazz Jackrabbit...
I haven't played that game in a long time. I remember going to my friend's house and playing the shareware version on his 386/33 MhZ machine. I never played the second one, but that's cool that they have a level editor and an active fan community.

Hey I'll sell this game with box and everything if anyone is interested. I really care for Sonic instead.
Hell I could throw in the original Jazz Jackrabbit, with full amount of episodes if needed. |

Might be it... I don't know if this exists in other languages. It probably does, since this guy stole almost everything he wrote from older writers (mainly Esope, from ancient Greece). As for JJ2, I never understood the purpose of the capturing the flag mode, so I stopped trying to play it.

The tortoise and the hare. That's the story it uses in the intro to JJ1.

... and like I said, those three level packs are a very different style of playing. Ninth: the idea of capture the flag is to steal a flag from your opponents base and bring it to your own to get a point and prevent your opponents from doing the same with your flag. First team to get a specified amount of points wins. |

Can I order just Jazz Jackrabbit (not 2)? . Unless, of course, JJ2 is the version with the addon. I HATE it when people release games in a better edition without an upgrade for those who bought the game originally ...

Jazz Jackrabbit (the original) was a shareware game... there was a free demo and you could buy more episodes. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is an entirely separate game. Not an update or an addon, but a brand new sequel... well, it was new at the time anyway
I think you'd be hardpressed to find either of the two for sale anywhere other than ebay and the bargain bin these days. |

Well I don't know... I'd rather sell Jazz Jackrabbit two, because I can't be bothered about the first one.
