Is it possible to play Halo and Halo 2 in co-op mode on the XBOX 360?

Yup, I've played both on the 360 on co-op. Combat Evolved can be a bit confusing at first, as you have to select "multiplayer", (which isn't actually a link to Xbox Live, as Live didn't exist then. It referred only to co-op gameplay.) then select the cooperative option.

Just made an order for Halo (€10), but I can't seem to find Halo 2 anywhere except on auction sites. What's up with this? Six month ago people were actually throwing copies at me, but now with the upcoming Halo 3, these copies are much harder to find. I've played Halo four years ago, but wasn't that impressed, but I got a rekindled interest now with Halo 3 and want to go through the game in co-op mode with a friend. Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas were also disappointing, but extremely fun in co-op so I'm hoping for the best.
