Just bought an xbox 360..
This is the first console i have brought since the master system 2...no really..
All my gaming has come from the PC. I was in limbo about the decision to upgrade my PC for about £400 so I can play bioshock and crysis when they're released. Alternativley I noticed how well received the xbox is and it seemed like the much cheaper option. I managed to pay only £315 for The premium system 2 wireless controllers including bioshock and fight night round 3. I am glad to say it is money well spent. Though my quarrels are...bio shock though i am only 30mins-1hour in...it really does look great but i feel I am not getting the full feel with my 28inch widescreen standard tv and I may have to shell out for a HD TV. The game has a truely atmosphere but damnit its hard to get used to analogue aiming its so slow and hard to judge! can i get me a mouse and keyboard? lol and link it up to my monitor? however i do get on really well with the boxing using the analogue i truly am a natural when it comes to boxing games LOL. Anyway I really setup up this thread to ask what games do i need to get to benefit from this console. graphics really aren't a big deal to me i really much prefer gameplay and although looking at the titles I will not go for the type of games I would have for the PC i.e RTS, adventure games and so on... I do love FPS, but again i really am struggling to get to terms with aming through analogue, i am going to need to get a lot of practice to get as good as i am on the PC. so yeah fire away. Assassins creed is the only game so far that really does look amazing. Though I am sure there is far more. |

I could never get used to console FPS games either. Aiming is just horrid for some reason. Take for example F.E.A.R., I can play it just fine on the PC but for the 360 I kept getting wasted because I just couldn't get a decent lockon. That and the fact you can only turn around so fast unlike a pc which is determined by how fast you can whip the mouse around.
For the 360 I liked Dead Rising and Gears of War. They are 3D but third-person. I also like some of the arcade games you get off of Live too. You're right about the TV, you'll want an HD TV for the 360.

Here's a short list of some worthwhile games, divided very roughly into several categories:
Action adventure: Kameo Condemned Dead Rising Splinter Cell: Double Agent Tomb Raider Legend Lego Star Wars 2 (Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga out in November; it contains both LSW1 and LSW2) Saints Row Just Cause (might be worth it until Mercenaries 2 arrives) Third-person shooter: Gears of War Crackdown Stranglehold GRAW and GRAW 2 Earth Defense Force 2017 Lost Planet Racing: Project Gotham Racing 3 (cheap nowadays, PGR4 coming out in October) Test Drive Unlimited Forza MotorSport 2 FlatOut Ultimate Carnage Colin McRae's DiRT Burnout Revenge MotoGP 07 JRPG: Blue Dragon (some love it, some don't) Eternal Sonata (out in less than two weeks) Enchanted Arms (decent, but unremarkable) Sports: Amped 3 Top Spin 2 Virtua Tennis 3 Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis Tony Hawk's Project 8 various EA and 2K Games titles Other: Viva Pinata Overlord Guitar Hero 2 (although you might want to wait for GH3 or Rock Band) Dead or Alive 4 Marvel Ultimate Alliance Battlestations: Midway Dance Dance Revolution Universe (if you're into such games) Armored Core 4 Project Sylpheed Chromehounds I strongly suggest you connect to Live and download demos of games that interest you (you don't need a subscription for that). The same with XBLA games some of which are just as engrossing as proper retail titles, if not more. There's too many good XBLA games to list here. I left out first-person shooters because of your problems with controls, but there are some good games in that category as well (Rainbow Six: Vegas, Perfect Dark Zero, Call of Duty 2, The Darkness and even Shadowrun which is great, but short on content and you need to play it online). Of course, you'd be crazy to miss out on Halo 3. There's also a number of still great Xbox games that work on the 360. You can find some of them here and here, but first check whether they would work on the 360.
