Default Half Life and Opposing Force spatial continuum

I know this is more suited for Half Life fanboi forums, but as I'm not a member of any, I was wondering if anyone here had an answer for my question:

Did anyone ever make a rough map of the Black Mesa research facility? Because I just beat Half Life (years overdue, I know), and started playing Opposing Force, and was intrigued by the prospect of visiting some of the same areas I played through as Freeman, and seeing some new ones. So I'm thinking, it would be cool to see a visual representation of how these two games fit together, spatially. And if that's too nerdy a desire for you to understand, well then,

Move along, this is not the thread you are looking for.

As far as I know, there's very little overlap, but there is some. Or at least I think there is.

yes, you do see freeman a few times exiting areas just as you enter them and such. i think you do play through a few of the same levels, just different parts of them. i think you'll enjoy it.

i think it's very creative how half life, blue shift and opposing force overlap with each other.

i never did complete opposing force, the final area was not very clear in how you win. no spoilers but it was a bit stupid.

I had no such problems and Opposing Force is still one of my favorite expansions. Blue Shift sucked balls, though.

The alien weapons in opposing force kicked major ass.

Spoiler:
Genital area? If I remeber correctly, you needed to activate or shoot some thing on the left, then another one on the right and then, when it would open up its mouth (to spawn some kind of a monster?), fill its throat with your, um, rocket. Or something like that, I only have a vague recollection of the whole affair.

Spoiler:
well i know you have to shoot his eye first, then a monster appears and then my friends told me to shoot the part that spawns the monster, kind of like the genital area of a giant female behemoth, but i tried it and was taking forever. so i just tried everything and it wasn't working.

and to this day it remains the same, for me and the behemoth.

Yeah, I don't really know what you're talking about either. I don't particularly remember the final boss, because it didn't present a serious challenge!

I seem to remember it taking me more than one attempt, but that's about it. As usual with these baddies, it was obvious when you were on the right track because its state would somehow change.

As to the original question, Wikipedia has pooloads of info on every game in the Half-Life series, but I doubt it has anything close to a map charting the intersections of the two games. It has immense amounts of background info you may be liable to miss, though, so definitely give it a read after you've completed a given game in the series... particularly for HL2.

Blue Shift, though? Blue Shit, more like. Stay well away.

okay hosay:

1) use spoiler tags

2) blue shift was good, it had barney in it and a huge wrench

3)
Spoiler:
the boss doesn't change it's state at all, it's the most unhintful piece of shit i've ever seen, and i'm practically a king amongst FPS' so i would have kicked it's pathetic ass if it was otherwise

I'm up to the boss myself now.

iii WARNING !!!
Vulgar description of the final fight

Spoiler:
You shoot at its left eye, then its right. When its blinded on both sides, it opens up its pink pussy and squeezes out a baby monster. I tried ramming my giant rockets into the pussy like 10 times, and it wasn't working. Its state does change, in that it starts going crazy about being shot in the eye: it destroys the walkway, and so on. Maybe if I shoot its eyes long enough (and not worry about its belly portal) it'll eventually die? Nothing seems to change when I shoot at the portal.

Spoiler:
I looked up a walkthrough:
It says to pump its gut (specifically the portal-looking thing when it opens its gut) with the eye-cannons. Dunno if anything else would've worked. It's kind of repetitive. Took me six or seven gut-pumping sessions before it went back through the huge portal writhing in pain. Never gave any indication that you were doing something significant during the whole time prior to that, though. The end.

Yes... the fact that games generally give you a visual indicator of your foe weakening (or perhaps give you hints via the medium of dance) is actually a trade secret. Sorry for spoiling every game you'll ever play, kids!

Actually, I can't see what was deserving of spoiler tags in his post either.

Uhm. You have obviously direct linked to an image that is now replaced with the text:
"The user who displayed this image is a fag, he sucks cock, smokes pole, in other words he loves playing with mens Dicks. this is in addition to having Shit for brains. in fact he is so retarded he couldn't figure out Right click save as and host his Own image.

DONT HOTLINK MY SHIT

Sincerly, The dude who's paying for your Lazy cheap skate Ass".

Now the guy who wrote that come out as both immature and a sad excuse for humankind that can barely spell right, but despite that, it's good to know that the original image do not show.
