Just wondering. Are most people here the type to only buy the ones you've played? or haven't played yet? Anyone else a collector?

I dont understand the question? Your asking people if they buy games and never play them?

I consider myself a collector. I have games that I bought but never got much use out of. I have at least tried every one of them but some just didn't interest me past that first hour or so. One of these days I gotta' get my shelves up and unpack my game boxes. I need some updated pictures.

It really depends on what you mean by collecting. If I have to have pristine, boxed, sealed copies of everything to be classed as a collector then no, I'm not. On the other hand, I own a lot of games, which I keep in as good a condition as I can possibly achieve.

So in that sense I'm a collector.

Nah, I'm not a collector.

For one, I don't have the spare space or money. So I tend to buy lots of budget versions, and I end up ditching the box, sticking the manuals (if any) in my manual drawer, and the CDs in my CD wallets.

For two, I don't buy something unless I'm going to use it. To me, buying a game and never playing it kinda misses the point. Same with collecting books or other similar items.

Peace & Luv, Liz

I buy games I want to play. If I get them in boxed versions with manuals and any other bits and pieces (remember the cloth map of Britannia in Ultima V) then I keep the lot. This makes storing them harder but I think of all that stuff as part of the game in a way.

I used to collect text adventures (infocom, magnetic scrolls, level 9, adventure international, etc). All those big boxes took up a lot of space, so I ended up moving them into storage boxes. Then I though, "What's the point?". Their all packed away, not being played, just taking up space and collecting dust. So I sold the lot.

I still collect certain games, but I'm much more refined now. I only keep games that I really like, and I only keep the packaging which is nice, compact and/or includes lots of disks which would be pointless putting them all into a CD wallet. I don't keep any big boxes. If a game comes in a large carton, I bin it and keep the jewel case and manual.

If the game is just average, has a single disk with minimal/no manual, or if its a budget release, then it goes into my CD wallet.

I don't consider myself a collector, but I do try to get games in DVD-cases for easy storage. I don't want boxes with manuals etc.

Pointed your pictures out to my wife bysmitty. That will stop her saying how much room my collection takes up (maybe two panels worth of yours)

I have a lot of games (and other software), including an embarrassingly high proportion of ones I've never actually played. But I don't consider it a collection, since I've always bought them intending to play them, and I still intend to get around to all of them sooner or later.

I prefer to have everything complete in the box, including any extras, etc. This is essentially the equivalent of preferring a leather-bound book over a scruffy paperback. It's just more aesthetically pleasing. With games, of course, there's also the possibility that the "optional extras" turn out to contain vital information!

By the way, the house is also full of books that I've bought and haven't yet got around to reading.

I always intend to play all the games I buy. I don't get around to it a lot of the time. Definitely a collector.
