Default Xbox 360 console

i will be getting a 360 shortly, although unfortunatly i don't have high speed(its not available in my area yet!!!!) anyway would it be possible to take out the hard drive and put it in my friends 360 so that it could recieve any updates or things like that from Live

Yep, thats completely possible, but I gather you won't be able to get system updates only download demos, trailers and I'm not sure about patchs for backwards compatability. Worth a try though.

No. As cool as that would be, profiles (and any relevant data) are 360 specific.

Check out some info here.


EDIT: I extrapolated that since you're looking to actually patch and upgrade the unit/games, that BEING profile and unit specific, that this would not work.

You don't actually need broadband as such, just some way of connecting the Xbox to the internet via ethernet. Sharing your dialup access via Windows Connection Sharing on your PC would work, though obviously downloading updates would be slow as bollocks.

Only in the sense that your XBL experience will be as fun as crushing your nads in a vice without it. If all you want to do is download patches incredibly slowly, it's not a necessity.

Okie dokie, though I wouldn't dismiss that they wouldn't want to have their bandwidth held hostage by someone with dial-up. *shrugs*

are u sure that the files are 360 specific because then what the hells the point of a removable hard drive?
