Default Scariest/Most Shocking Video Games You've played

Hmm, there's so many for me. But, I can probally say clock Tower 3. Now, I don't think it's scary. But, it was the first "Horror" game I've ever played. I was really shocked after seeing the staue's head fall off, and the blood come out. After that I was I hooked.

The Prey demo was pretty shocking in it's brutality. Like the weird orifices that spit stuff at you. If you look closer, you realize they are human body parts. And the scene with the children.. etc. etc.

Its the first thing what comes up when i hear word "horror game"...
The atmosphere,background sounds,music,alternative world,"many" people around,fog,this story....just, for me...best,and scariest thing ever.

Yep, Silent Hill. It scares in a truly deep, disturbing way unlike, say Doom 3, whose "monster jumps out on you, big scary demon!" formula soon gets old. Special mention to 5 Days, which was scary despite being drawn on MS Paint.

The sex scene in Farenheit was pretty scary, LOL, when you had to make him "thrust" to have sex with the women. Even scarier when you're playing it infront of your mother and husband, LMAO!

I get startled a lot by things jumping at me in FPSss, I used to a lot more than I do now, but stuff still scares me. In recent memory, I would have to say, the zombies and the atmosphere of Silent Shock 2 freaked me out a lot. It is not so much the fact that it is straightforwardly eerie or whathaveyou, but that everything comes together for a real mindfuck since you never feel entirely relaxed while playing: few bullets, the truly formidable zombies, the crew logs, the pleeding ghosts, etc.

The very opening of Alone in the Dark was also superb, with that monster trying to get you.
Spoiler:
You finally figure out you need to block the window to keep it from coming in, but then it bursts through the trap door in the floor just as you start to relax a little.
That really left an impression on me when I first played it.

In which case, I agree with you. I was chicken enough to never finish the game (and I really must one day soon)...

Cold fear and aliens vs predator 2. I also jumped in Dino crisis when T-rex crashed through the window.Resident evil 2 also had its moments too

Yeah, I remember that well. I was around 9 when I first played Alone in the Dark, and that scene left a big impression on me....so big I was too scared to finish the game. I only managed to get to the part where you get killed by the guy in the living room.

Well, now that there's a graphical update mod, it's going to be even more scary. The hybrids now actually look quite realistic, the cyborg midwives and corpses are also much more detailed. Wall textures are also redone.

Yeah, Alone in the Dark was one of the scariest games I've ever played.
Especially the whole intro/opening scene is very scary.

Manhunt was pretty shocking, but in a cool way. Most Silent Hill games still disturb me and the first Resident evil did as well.

I really detested that game. The graphics were irretating and the story, whilst really cinematic in some cases (the cinematic of the father dying in WWI leaving his daughter alone back home was amazing) some felt really cheesy (like the whole story as her as a descendent of women with special powers).

Did you know the game was originally to be a feature length movie, but they couldn't find funding?

As for most shocking game, it didn't shock as such, but the first Blood Omen used to make me feel a little sick after a while. I was quite young though. It's the only game that's made me feel ill in any way. I think it has to do with the dark atmosphere and cutting people's throats to get blood for energy.

And of course, there are games that are just shocking in that they don't live up to the hype (The Longest Journey).

I heard this bit was cut out or censored in the European versions?

I think it was cut out of the American version (Indigo Prophecy, which was the one I played and had no sex) but left in for Europe (Farenheit). You go through all the trouble of wooing the girl, and you don't even get the reward of a shagging mini-game. Disgraceful.

Didn't they kick off in America over the unlockable sex game in GTA as well? Another case of, you can get the guy to run over old people and then reverse over their bodies before getting out and mutilating their corpses with UZIs, baseball bats etc. but you can't get him to have sex, which is legal to do in real life by that age anyway.
