Actually, British movieprogramme Film 2006 rated the 50 Cents movie pretty positive, so I think you shouldn't take everything for granted.

The game, of course, deserves the course of action that was undertaken (and quickly ceased and desisted) by UK Resistance: putting the entire staff on the black list.

Ebert and Ropert also gave it two thumbs up. I doubt it's any good though.

The Game has been banned in Australia but not in the UK as far as I can tell.

It's all nice and well that The Game has been banned in Australia but what about 50 cent?

UK:R put the credits list people of the 50 Cents game on a 'death list' saying they were free game. They then got mailed by the company, increasingly watered the message down (just 'scaring them' was also OK), and finally removed it altogether. A bit juvenile, I agree.

Well, to be fair to the guy, you can't blame him for trying to make even more money I mean, the guy can't rhyme or rap for shit (well not in thesame league as say KRS ONE, although he's miles ahead of someone like Ja-Rule), but he does know how to capitalise on his 'bulletproof' image, and he probably knows he won't be in the rap game forever (or alive much longer, take your pick), so what's wrong with trying to make as much money as he possibly can?

It's too bad the game sells so much more copies than any of the actually decent games of recent times, but you can hardly blame him for that, in thesame way you can hardly blame him for keeping gansta rap alive or for making hiphop even "more violent" than it already was, that's usually the handywork of deranged and obsessed fans (of the street gang variety).

He's not that bad. His radio play songs (which I'm sure you're going by) are incredibly watered down but he can be great when he wants to be.

Actually, the movie did poorly in the USA. That was a pleasant surprise.

Still, a world where the 50 Cent game sells 1 million copies and Psychonauts bombs is pretty depressing.

Yes he is (although beauty is in the eye of the beholder), and I'm not just going by his radio play songs. I was able to digest most of The Massacre, mainly due to the infectious beats, but GRODT is just plain crap. Time will tell if The Massacre was just a fluke or not, but I'm doubtful whether he will have a long lasting career in hiphop. Tastes differ though, and hiphop is showing a disturbing tendency towards gangsta rap at the moment.

It's the 27th worst movie over at IMDB with a rating of 2.3 Still, I'm surprised it didn't succeed at the box office regardless.

It was to be expected though, the market for nonsensical violence is infinitely bigger than the market for creative and groundbreaking games, sadly.

That's only because biased assholes who haven't even seen it voted it a one anyway 'cause it's really hip to do that stuff. Mind you, I doubt it's any good myself, but I didn't see it so I won't rate it.
