Another Dumb Question
What are the "Buddy List" and "Ignore List" for? How do they work? Should I be using either or both of them?

The ignore list lets you block people's posts. I've never used it but I guess you just don't see their posts on a thread.
Not sure about the buddy list. |

I've often wondered about the Buddy List myself. The only thing it seems to do is put a little "+" next to your buddies' usernames in the 'Currently Active Users' Panel at the bottom of each board.
Opening your buddy list (from the 'Quick Links' drop down) also shows whether your buddies are on or offline, but this info is fairly easily gleaned from the Active Users panel. Maybe it's more useful for forums with massive quantities of users? Then again, I'm probably just missing something. |

Regarding the buddylist... I used to maintain it until I noticed it really doesn't do much It doesn't highlight posts in "New Posts", it doesn't let you chose a buddy from a dropdown list to PM them quicker when you chose "Send New PM", it doesn't really do much at all! So I stopped maintaining it. Hope that helps Edit: Re: Ignore List: Posts appear like so: The first row: "Date", and on the right side, "View Post". The second row: "[username]", and on the right side, "Remove user from ignore list" The third row: "This message is hidden because [username] is on your ignore list." And that's all of the post.

So both options are somewhat limited in their scope, then.
I'm guessing I'd have no way of knowing that I'd been added to either list by someone else as well. Good to know. Thanks for the information. ScottMate

He's just kidding, Scott. You are someone who's literally impossible to ignore. I know because I tried to put you on my ignore list and the system wouldn't let me.

See? Even your computers know what a terrific guy Scott is! That's what you get from trying to block him!

I think you actually can. At least it's possible in chat rooms, so why not on forums? -
