fov, sounds like you and Doug had a good time there! Bone looks really like a fun game in the works!

Thanks. We did have a good time. Everyone we met with was very nice, and when I said I hadn't read Bone they gave me the Scholastic versions of the first two books to take home.

The best is yet to come, though...

I haven't read Bone either. Do you think they'll spare me a copy if I send an email of complain to Telltale guys?

Nice article. Who knew that 3 or 4 people standing around an office would make fascinating reading? Oh yeah, that and getting to play an alpha version of a cool new adventure game ain't bad either! Anyway, another example of your excellent writing skills.

Really looking forward to it, more than any other game at the moment. It'll be nice to finally play a comedy adventure game again that (hopefully) isn't just a cheap imitation like Tony Tough (1st one, not sequel).

The opening puzzle with the three way conversation sounds like it could produce a good few laughs, had me giggling away just reading the descriptions.

I don't see how they could release it as a file size of only 50 MB though, most demos are larger than that, and they have to account for voices and all that.

50-70 MB seems to be the goal. They are using some kind of voice compression (forget what it's called, sorry) that is used by the US military. The music will be in OGG format. It'll be interesting to see what 50ish MB of game turns out to be, once they're done.

Yeah. It was an interesting read. But too bad they're cutting the snow
That's my only complaint

Im not too keen on how they are distributing it, its already affecting the game.

and no hard copy means no box art

There's no reason that they wouldn't make a 300dpi A4 coversheet to print & slip into a DVD case to house a burned copy of the installer file(s).

And if they don't you know someone else will.

Great article, Emily (& Doug). Really gave me a sense of what it's like to, um, be a person who works in an office and stands around all day sort of working and sorta not. (Like real life!)

Seriously, it was extremely interesting to read, especially about the puzzles and how they relate to the first book. I'm also VERY excited about the 50MB download . . . I have dialup still and I can't download any demos (unless I want to devote days to doing it), so such a small file is basically the only feasible option for a downloadable game . . .

(Even that will take some doing. But still possible.)

I wonder if they're going to translate the games into different languages. Potential customers left out in the cold and such...

Yes, but not by September. Forgot to mention that in the article.

I always imagined a publisher picking the whole package up, after all games are done. Selling it as Bone - The Whole package(TM), with new voice overs and a nice box. I can see it happen in some European countries at least.

When will the next Hype-o-meter be updated? Because this should definitely be in 3rd place.

Goodies!

So what do you guys think of the movie?

I don't know if we'll have an update before the game is released in September. Not that I'm complaining about a September release!

But the great thing about Telltale's development cycle is that as soon as Out from Boneville comes out, there will be another Bone game to get hyped up about.

Hmm, not entirely convinced this will rock as much as it should, but here's hoping!

Did you get to meet Jeff Smith?
Can you get his autograph for me?

I was soooooo disapointed to hear that Bone is not going to be a full-retail game, but instead a series of short games that can be downloaded. Where's the fun in that? I want a box!
