I think they purposely did this so as to cut down on clutter that could easily be avoided: hence they placed an extensive link collection to help you:

I personally havent minded the occasional "getting x game to run in y operating system" threads. It's not like you have to wade through them to get to other good threads. The fact that theyre occasionally floating around in there is probably good as it will help people with slightly more unique problems know which forum to ask them in

Yeah I think it's worked well. I tried to visit the stuck and technical help forums in the past and help people but gave up after a while. Now it's in the main forum, already people are getting quick responses to Qs. Good idea
