I know I had this down before, but I can't seem to remember how...is one able to post a picture, which everyone can instantly see in the post without clicking on a link, that is uploaded from one's computer?

You have to upload it somewhere to the internet, then include it with the [ img ] tag. You can't just attach it to a post, or it will just show up as a download link.

It'll show an attached image inline, but only if there's one. More than one, and you get the links. At least, I think that's how I set it up.
