Default Adventure Gamers Mailbag

I like the mailbag they have on pc.ign.com, I think it would be pretty cool if Adventure Gamers did something similar. You know, send letters to Adventure Gamers and have them answered by the editor on a regular basis. You occassionally respond to site feedback, but this feedback wouldn't have to relate to the site but adventure game related stuff in general.

I personally would love to do something like this...just always wondered whether there would be enough response from the readers...hate to start a regular mailbag feature and then not run it because there are no letters.

So, if you guys promise to write, we'll definitely go ahead with this.

If you don't have any good ones, collaborate behind the scenes with a member and make one up

Dear Adventure Gamers,

Just why is every member of your staff so inexplicably sexy? I just cannot seem to stop looking at the photos on the 'Meet the team' page.

You could always do what Double Fine Action News does and make up your own letters about cutting your nose while shaving.

Were there not enough genuine letters, it could be a general "Buzz of the Biz" kind of article, summarizing reader feedback and forum musings into one page. I'd guess there are visitors who don't visit the forums at all so the page could serve as a quick index to what has been generating discussion lately. Just a thought.

Yeah. A mailbag feature should be nice. At least it'll give me an opportunity to whine about the lack of IF related material at AdventureGamers.

I just want to know why Marek hates cheese. It is, by far, the topic of most interest to me that hasn't been publicly addressed AFAIK.

Well, a mailbag feature would mean that we wouldn't really answer questions in the forum anymore...which would be fine by me, since having it on the site would mean a lot more people would read it.

What I really wanna know is why you linked to Adventure Gamers twice in your first post. Did you think we might have forgotten the url to Adventure Gamers whilst browsing the Adventure Gamers forums or something?

But it also means you an "lose" awkward questions . No, I'm sure you'd never do that, but it is more likely that some peoples questions may never get answered.

Even though I was the one who suggested the mailbag, I'd prefer you continue answering questions on the forums as well.

But therein lies the problem...if we ran a mailbag feature, which again I'd love to do, we'd have to make sure we had a fairly steady stream of letters. If we kept answering questions on the forum, there wouldn't be much incentive for people to write the mailbag.

So, what I could do, is PROMISE to answer every mailbag letter in the regular column, and any I couldn't answer, to carry them over to the forums. That way there wouldn't be concern about people not getting their questions answered.

I like the hands-on feel of the forum though. I guess it doesn't mean you guys are not going to post. I don't know.

You could have a mailbag subforum or thread, where people can ask questions for the mailbag feedback. That way those who like the forum more get to ask there and those who like email better can send it to the mailbag mail-address.

There's no reason to have it every week - maybe a monthly or bi-monthy feature. In that time frame - I am sure you'd have plenty of material.
I always liked those features in mags and such. Particularly the weird or flaming mails.

It doesn't even have to be over a scheduled time frame. You could post it when you have a certain amount of letters.
