UHS links
I like the Universal Hint System link that you have in the reviews now. It's an awesome feature.

Hey Ragou I know you have scottish ancestory but I didn't notice the scottish surname before!
EDIT: Oops there was a reason I posted in this thread. The new UHS boxes are great BUT one of the links is wrong. If you click on the "Need Hints?" image you go to www.UHS.com and NOT www.uhs-hints.com

And about UHS: Do you have a partnership (or what you want to call it) with UHS, or why did you choose them to link to? Do UHS link to adventuregamers for reviews etc.?

What we have right now is a little experiment for a more official affiliate agreement. Soon we'll get a percentage off the UHS Readers that are sold to people who found out about it through AG.
So if you're thinking of buying the UHS Reader, do us a favor and wait a little bit |

Do that many people buy UHS readers? Aren't most of the files free?

OK.... here I go on a pitch that some of you have seen before.
BUY THE UHS READER! I say this for many reasons. The most important to you, as a gamer, is that there are many UHS hint files that have "locked" portions, available only to subscribers. Any time you go to the site and you see titles with the blue dot next to them, that means that the full file is only available to subscribers. Another consideration is that UHS is simply the BEST resource for AGP'ers or other gamers who like the puzzling aspect of adventure games. If you get stuck on a puzzle and go to a walkthrough, you will inevitably find yourself skimming/reading through the solutions to six other puzzles while looking for a hint to the particular puzzle you need a nudge for. UHS allows you to get that nudge, and only a nudge (if that's all you want) on the particular puzzle you need help on without inadvertently disclosing the answers to other puzzles. Besides these two rather obvious reasons for spending the paltry $20, there are the two reasons that convinced me to subscribe. 1) I had used UHS to get through a good twenty games over a three year period. They simply earned my support. 2) If you fancy yourself a writer or a game guru, you must pay for the UHS Reader in order to get the UHS Editor which allows you to write and submit your own hint files to UHS. Not only does this allow you to help the gaming community, but UHS pays its contributors for hint files for new releases. Getting even one of these accepted pays for the entire subscription. Buy UHS. Know UHS. Love UHS. It is the gamer's best friend.

I paid for my UHS Reader about five years ago now, and I've definitely got more than my $20' worth out of it. It's helped me through countless games I would otherwise have used walkthroughs for (and of course risked spoilers). Only pity is AGers didn't have this affiliate thing 5 years ago, so some of my money could have gone to them

I use the UHS all the time but they give it away for free... how can you resist.

I would rather much have preferred a non-proprietary format (and that you pay for access to the content of the site, rather than the actual player) so that one could write your own program to view it, etc.
And I won't even consider buying UHS, before the above apply or they have made a linux version themselves.
