Importing PMs in e-mail client?
The PM interface on the forums is nice and all, but not really practical for achival purpose, especially since you can't view past PMs as conversations (I don't think it's even possible to move sent PMs from the 'Sent' folder). So I was wondering if it was possible to import them into my e-mail client (Mozilla Thunderbird). I see that it's possible to save them to a variety of formats, but then I'm not sure what to do.

Even then, it's down to the vbulletin developers to support email formats for PMs, rather than just spreadsheet formats.

Ah ha! So something can be done (server-side).
Now, just to whine at Doug's feet until he implements it...

That's cool, but it only lets you do manual imports, not actually check your PMs. you're better off looking for a thunderbird extension to do the job

Well, that was only for archival, so I don't mind doing it manually. But, yes, I was more looking for an extension that would do something with the XML file that can be exported from the boards. I still haven't found one, but I keep looking. I just stumbled upon that other method, so I mentioned it here, but I agree it'd be better for everybody to find something that's purely user-side.
I'm not giving up yet.

Not really, because the boards create one file for each folder, so converting that to whatever text format would just result in two big text files (one for everything in Inbox, one for everything in Sent), which wouldn't be much better than the current situation (kinda worse, actually).
Thanks for trying, though.
