As you know english subtitles weren't included in films in the first place. They would however hire voice-acting crews to dub them into the certain languages, in order to milk the foreign cows. These are fine and dandy mostly, and is a serious source of laughter for many. Frankly, I'd watched numerous chinese dubbed movies, like Spider Man 2, and I'd yet to get over the hilarious and corny conversation. Hmm... maybe I should go and relieve the comedic memories. Hee hee hee~!

Anyway, some countries have a strange requirement to put up subtitles for films, in consideration to the minority population. Hence, with only the dubbed film available, they hire their own translator to put in subtitles. That becomes another source of great fun and laughter.

Man! It's so great to be bilingual sometimes. Some of the chinese films I'd watched, have such "nice" subtitles, that they became the highlight of the film! Just last year, Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu" was the source of great laughter, with a particular heroine named "Helen of Troy" (in the subtitle).
