Default I'm so ANGRY!

Last night, some low-life thieves managed to break into my band's rehearsal room, and stole a TWO WEEK OLD PC, worth around £15, with a used-for-studio-recording soundcard that was equally expensive. We were currently recording our debut *double album* in our own rehearsal room, so we set up this little studio ourselves so we would afford to record all 36 songs... We've spent the last two weeks recording three of them... Yesterday night we added some beautiful flute arrangements to one song, and we were all simply awestruck of how beautiful, how great this all was becoming... I guess it was all too good to be true.

Someone had broke right through two doors, the strange thing is, they only took the PC, not any other valuable stuff. There are lots of equipment in that room worth 10 times the value of that PC... I guess some nearby drug addicts who needed some money quickly knew the room was used by a band, and took the first thing they saw that would be easy to sell for some quick bucks - a PC, of course... I guess it didn't slip their minds that the PC actually contained studio recordings in progress... Money is replacable, but those recordings - not a chance.

Don't give me a gun now, I might fire it! Even though I'm a pacifist!

I know how that feels.

Very frustrating. I hope you can find the inspiration to continue/start over your work. That's the most difficult part, I'm sure.

£15? That's not very expensive... Although I do sympathise with your loss.

Oops. I meant £1500, obviously...

We would start over right away if we only had that soundcard, it was a very important part of our setup and now everything is ruined... You just don't dig up £3000, at least not when you're a student.

And of course, something happens to your motivation once you notice that your equipment is never safe. Why shouldn't they steal again if we install a new PC?

At least we spent the day installing new locks and an alarm system in our rehearsal room... That, and chatting to the police, who obviously have more important matters than this to attend to...

Well, I guess the only good thing that can come out of this is a song about stealing! Oh yes.

Well, have to go to bed now - let's hope tomorrow will be a better day, somehow.

Sorry to hear that, Myhrik. But if there is something positive to come out of this it's the fact that those who will succeed are those who can overcome such problems. I'm sure it will only add to spurring you all on and the results will be even better. Keep up the fight and you will prosper.

Btw, what type of music do you play? Do you have any music available that we here can listen to, that is if you don't mind us giving our thoughts?

Curt, you can visit our site at www.aladdinscave.org

It is a kind of melodic rock band, inspired by classical songwriting like The Beatles, but also newer artists like Radiohead, Muse, Jeff Buckley... Actually, our main philosophy is that the genre or inspiration does not matter, as long as the basis is a *good melody*.

The newest songs, actually rough mixes from the upcoming album, are "Stare" and "Strain". These two songs are actually not lost, since they were recorded on another PC.
