Definitely e, just because it was the simplist chapter in calculas. Pi is a bit overrated. Finding the area of a circle is overrated in and of itself.

My guess (haven't read the book) would be you mean the golden proportion, or greek phi = (1+sqrt(5))/2, where sqrt stands for square root. Very cool number indeed.

EDIT: Indeed, this site says it starred in Da Vinci Code.
