I, too, became sad when I read this thread. Mainly because I was expecting something more.

The post was edited. For some unknown reason. What was it?

Oops my bad I must have deleted it yesterday by mistake while I was editing the post. This is what happened:

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/...ion/index.html

Ex prime minister of Lebanon (my parent's country) was brutally murdered.

He was a very good man. He donated to the poor to pursue their education, and rebuilt downtown Beirut. He even built the business school of BU if anyone has graduated from there. He was an opposition figure towards the Syrian forces that are predominant in Lebanon, and so he was killed (speculation is that the Syrians did it). Fears are plenty that this might cast the country into civil war, a country that has been torn into civil war for 15 long years from 1975-1990. All he wanted was his country to be free.

Here's an editorial on the situation from the Daily Star, an important Lebanese paper that will frequently give an alternative to the U.S. media on matters in the Middle East.

I am horrified by any thought of a renewed civil war in Lebanon since I have family that lives there. My cousin was almost killed when he was a baby by shrapnel that tore into his room during the early '80s. I pray that the situation can be handled with care and discernment.

My whole family lives in Lebanon, and I lived through the 15 years of civil war. I am what is known in Lebanon as the war generation. So I really hope and pray that things will work out peacefully.
