Default Ukrainian turmoil

You guys follow news coming from the Ukraine? With certain bitterness, I discovered none of the western news-oriented broadcasters I'm able to watch (BBC World, CNN, Euronews) paid much attention to what's happening there... Our media tune in live coverage from Kiev every hour or so.

Apparently the pro-Russian government attempts to forge the results of yesterday presidential election, which should have been won by extremely popular Victor Yushchenko, a leader of the opposition, who aims at democratization and accessing the EU. Even the official rankings had given him slight preference, but today "almost complete" results were announced - and Moscow Candidate Yanukovych is supposed to leave Yushchenko behind with less than 3% difference. This wouldn't be impossible to believe in a politically healthy country, but this is not the case. The independent observators noticed numerous misdemeanours during the election. Also, the present president had been all the time been strangely confident about Yanukovych's triumph.

The worst aspect is that 100,000 supporters refusing to believe proclaimed results are now gathering on central place in Kiev (well, actually, latest reports say that the number has decreased). Rumour has it that militia squads were given orders to intervene. Do I have to point out this may end in bloodshed? My hope everything's going to end peacefully is not a strong one.
