Gattaca
For all the people who can receive BRT1. Today they will broadcast the excelent movie Gattaca. This movie is a must see if you like a somewhat scary view on the implications of a big brotherian gene manipulating future. Even if you don't like a scifi story, go watch it anyway cause of the awesome art direction.
oh and it's got ethan hawke, juse law and uma thurman in the lead roles. Last edited by ysbreker; 10-14-2003 at 07:42 PM. |

I love Gattaca. To those of you who need more convincing: it has Uma Thurman.

Agreed. It's been a while since I've seen this movie but I liked it.

I don't really like the melodrama in the story about the two brothers. That could have been less, for my taste. Also, some of the symbolism is a bit too obvious (see the picture of the stairs for a perfect example). Still, a pretty good movie, and as ysbreker said the art direction is very nice.

It's pretty good, but it almost seems like just a huge jumble of other science fiction movies.

Great movie. Pretty to look at, decent story, and not f*cking dumb about science.

This proves that Marek's got good genes... if you want to be autistic about spotting movie symbolism.

LOL, missed that too, but whatever. It's not as if that is supposed to affect the story in anyway. It's like the parody marquees on Polysorbate 80 -- mind's eye candy.

Actually, that's not true twifkak. It totally depends on what level you're watching a movie. There's a ton of symbolism in movies that, with a bit of training, can be spotted quite easily. That visual language thing is about a third of my movie watching experience.
