(language barrier) Ha! Did you know that the little elf-boy (or one of them?) played a recurring role in the WB show Gilmore Girls? One of the useless facts I know.

He he he. To be honset, I absolutely hate musicals. A movie when people just bursts into song is ridiculous.
But at least Phantom Of The Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar is pretty cool.

I dig JC*. That and an off-broadway version of Tommy I saw. Those are the only two I've seen, ever.

Ow yeah, The Blues Brothers is swinging as well!
I don't think it's silly for people to burst into songs. I kinda like that slightly hysterical tune in those things. What bothers me is that nobody here seems to know Rocky Horror =/ While it's SO good and SUCH a phenomenon.

And it's got drag.
Ok, seen Little Shop of Horrors (cute, but I wouldn't put it in "fav" status for me), and Night Before Christmas (though I don't remember that being a musical... ). post+=0;

I like the music in Rent. I haven't actually seen the full performance, I've only heard the music. I'd love to see the show one day.
As for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, I saw it this summer in Berkeley, California... it was a fun experience. They painted "Virgin" on my face with lip-stick (obviously because it was the first time I'd been to the RHPS) and then made me and all of the other Virgins go up on stage and shake our bums to music. Then a few of the virgins were selected to stay up on the stage and fake orgasms in front of everyone. Thank god I wan't picked because I was there with my family. Finally the show started and people started performing on the stage. They gave us stuff like toast, toilet paper, etc to throw on to the stage at certain points in the movie (for instance when one guy proposes a toast, we threw toast in the air). I couldn't understand what was happening in the movie because of all the action going on in the theater but despite that, I had a good time, and if anyone hasn't seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show, go see it (in a movie theater of course, with people)... |

I think the best musical I've seen on stage would be Cabaret, which was performed at Helsinki City Theater a couple of years ago. It was an excellent performance and the songs were as toetapping as ever. Gives a whole new perspective to drag shows when you've seen the original.

Undoubtedly Phantom of the Opera. Absolutely magnificent
My Fair Lady, too, if that's considered a musical. |

Er... stage or screen?
Screen, I'd say: - Little Shop of Horrors (Never got to see it on stage) - My Fair Lady (same ) - Mary Poppins (hey, I liked it as a kid and I still like it now. So there.) Stage: -Urinetown (Easily one of the most imaginative and original musicals I've ever seen) - Phantom of the Opera (well, look, I've only seen a couple of decent stage musicals. Phantom's not super, but it's better than some of the others ) If things work out, I might be on the tech crew for a production of Mozart's The Magic Flute next year, though. It's not a musical, per se, but who cares? |
