Default Peter Jackson+The Hobbit=Very possible

So now the lawyers will have to deal with this.

Maybe some day we will see The Hobbit by Peter Jackson.

I'm actually looking forwar to it, if its going to happen..
But it will probably take some while though..
They got the rights to LotR in 1996, and you can see how loong that took.. But The Hobbit is shoter, and the technology is further too..
So lets hope it turns out well ^^

I thought I read a while back that Jackson wasn't going to do The Hobbit. I guess he changed his mind after seeing all that money. Hope they didn't throw away the Shire set.

Sounds like they're going to try to get the same actors as in the Lord of the Rings movies too. Gandalf, Bilbo, Gollum. I don't know if the actor who played Bilbo in LOTR would be young enough to play Bilbo from The Hobbit, though.

I think Sir Ian Holm will be "young" enough to play the young Bilbo, I thought he looked great in Fellowship of the Ring in the flashback sequence in Gollum's cave where he had brown hair.

And if they can't get Sir Ian MacKellen to play Gandalf's part, they can always get Jack Nicholson to play the part

I'd rather have Peter Jackson do Dead Alive 2, or Return of the Frighteners.

Alas, the latter probably won't happen because of Michael J. Fox's fairly nasty case of Parkinson's. He was on two episodes of Scrubs recently, and you could really notice it. It's a real shame

Plus I'm assuming they still have the elaborate Bag End location they built for Fellowship/ROTK, which will save a lot of time, since that took over a year to build (they had to build it and then let it sit so the trees and whatnot would grow up).

Hm..
I cant say I know much about LotR,
but shouldn't Bilbo look the same as when he got the ring? That is why he looked that good, that old.. Or osmething like that..
Or did he only age slower?

He aged slower, at least that's how I remember it was.

I think, technically he's supposed age slower.

But the thing is, Ian Holm is getting older than he was when he played old Bilbo, and now he's supposed to be young[er] Bilbo.

Either way, I'm sure today's make up and computer interferance can do miracles to any old man...

Ian Holm was pretty much my absolute favorite part about the LOTR films. If they could pull of the age business properly, he'd be a great choice for Bilbo.

I just like him because he did the BBC Radio version as well ...

I hope they got it all sorted out when Jackson is done with King Kong (which I'm also really looking forward to).

If I remember correctly, PJ bought it from New Line, just because it was so frickin cool. It must be a great summer house.

Yeah, really. "No, sorry, I can't have dinner with you because the wife and I are going out to Bag End for the weekend."
