Default So I cleaned up my studio today

Subtitle: Have you changed your washer water-supply hoses lately?

I woke up in the wee hours this morning to pee only to hear that the toilet needed the handle jingled, only it turned out that it didn't need it. So what's that sound? Definitely water moving through pipes. I went to the basement door and turn on the lights to find that a clothes-washer supply line had burst and had flooded the basement. Oy.

Here's the saga (read the captions):

Thankfully, I don't think I lost anything of real value (it probably had not gone on longer than about an hour), but hey, change your hoses (every 5 years). It's cheap insurance! Imagine if I'd not been home... just saying'.

To quote: "Oy."

I hope none (or at least few) of the instruments suffered any real damage?

Arrrgh!
I feel for you Specksie having had our basement flooded (by sewer water) a couple of years ago. We had approximately 4 inches of said water in our entire basement.
Today we have a great basement all payed for by the insurance company.
So see it from the bright side!

Oh boy what a mess. I must check the hose on my ten-year-old washing machine... Good luck with the insurance company Speck!

Thanks all. Somehow, NONE of the instruments suffered any damage (once guitar case was soaked, but dried out just fine). I must have woken up soon after the hose burst.

I've been re-doing a lot of laundry since the weekend though... oy indeed. Come to think of it, that load of laundry hanging there probably saved a lot of stuff.

New hoses: $20. Cheap insurance!
