Terry Pratchett in Winchester
it was some low-key childrens book fair in winchester where Pratchett, Jaqueline Wilson and some other dudes were signing books. funnily enough Jaqueline Wilson was definitely more popular here, she wrote the book 'bed and breakfast star' which was the first novel to spawn the 'tracy beaker' series.
my auntie - lovely woman - may seem a little intimidating in the following picture, but rest assured she is a die-hard Pratchett fan: then we met the legend: see his trademark black hat on the table? that's style, man. [sorry if the pictures are links, but for some reason i can't get them up normally - n00b] |

Gah!!! I envy you!
Couldn't you have kidnapped him and sent him here by Hermes postal service (I'm not going to risk losing my idol in the awful royal mail system these days)? -

I envy you slightly less, but enough. Must be cool having an aunt that's a fan of Pratchett.
One day, I'm going to own a beard and a hat like that. I guess it's time to start hinting which book I want for Christmas, the witches series is my favourite. I can't wait for the TV adaptation of Hogfather, I'm quite pleased Tony Robinson (Blackadder) and David Warner (Fallout) are in the cast.

I met him while I was at Uni just after Moving Pictures came out in hardback. I've got a picture of me with him somewhere.
He also sold me a T-shirt with a rubber Luggage (as in The Luggage) on the front which said "My chest is round the front" on the other side. If you can pick up UK digital channel BBC Four they did an hour-long interview with him last week. I'll keep an eye out for a repeat and post an alert beforehand if possible.

funnily enough i was talking in the que to my uncle about how easy it would be to assassinate him (and getting away with it) at the time. it would have been incredibly easy, not like anyone would want to mind. kidnapping him however - even with no security what-so-ever - would have been slightly more challenging. plus there was this witch standing next to him (i think was his wife or daughter maybe) and was much more intimidating than he was. the documentary was taped for me but i still haven't got round to seeing it, apparently it was good. and AJ, it could be fun having an aunt who is a fan of TP, but she is something else, man. she lives Pratchett. i think she practically stalks him online. her drawings are quite good though, i think they are on L-space or something, plus i always get new books from her here and there so that's always something to look forward to. |
